The Miranda one in the picture isn't threaded. The description is a bit limited also. Can't decide if it's narrow wide or not.. guess I'll see when it turns up.
I'd say not
Mainly because in the pic you can clearly see it's a standard tooth patern
But also because Miranda describe it as a "flat" ring
and especially because one of the options listed is 33T

NW rings work so well I wouldn't want to run a standard ring anymore on any mtb.
if I've understood the concept properly I honestly don't think Wolftooth's wave patern (offset teeth) will be as effective as a well designed NW tooth profile ring.
Hopefully someone else will step up with a range of affordable 104bcd steel NW rings

33t .. uhmm - yes, that kinda answers that question doesn't it ! :) Smart arse ! :) I didn't even notice - what a dumb ass ! You don't think they've got around that with a special NW ring with a leap year NNN combination for the last three teeth ? :unsure:o_O:ROFLMAO:

Didn't hear anything from Miranda and as the postage was almost twice the price of the ring for next day DHL ... and almost ten days later .. nothing .. I've written to cancel it... I have every faith that they'll ignore that and ship it next year some time ..

It's difficult to tell from the pictures as most of these places don't seem to bother putting the actual picture up, just a generic one. Like Praxis, they show a none threaded ring, but at least in the description it says it's threaded. Lets face it, if you're a company and you've developed a product, why the hell would you goto all the effort of putting a picture of what it actually looks like on your information site.

On the bright side, it's winter so my average speeds are lower and the 32t factory ring isn't as restrictive as it feels when it's dry. Plus it's had no effect whatsoever on my uphill 0-62kph time of never ...

Oh FFS !

One Month later ... and I finally have my Praxxis 36t 104BCD E-ring Steel ...

Only I'm looking at it and thinking it just doesn't seem right...

It's not, they've sent the praxxis 104bcd steel 36t wave ring .... but not the e-ring !!!

So the raised sections round the thread's which align in to the spider are on the inside, facing the motor, not on the outside facing the back of the spider ..

If I mount it backwards, the "wave" teeth will be facing the wrong way .

E-ring - you can see the raised alignment parts :

eRING STEEL MTN 1X 104BCD - Praxis Works

none Ering - the raised section are on the back..

MTN 1X 104BCD WAVE™ TECH - Praxis Works

PRAXXIS : "30 DAY GUARANTEE : Don’t stress, purchase with confidence." ... It's taken me a month to get the damned thing ..

Interesting that the "WAVE" is completely different to the original "NARROW WIDE" too ...

Nah.. not interesting.
Unless you're interested in STUPID.
Offset teeth is a retarded way to do it and will actually create MOAR chain pivot wear
Why couldn't Praxis have simply done a proper NW?
Because PRAXIS

Fuck off Praxis

That's not very nice is it ..

You're right though .. interesting was the wrong choice of word .. It can't be easy being "probably" Scotlands most attractive man and being right all the time ..

Having spent quite a while being sad making sure I ended up with a narrow wide ring it's a bit crappy.

I've mounted it anyway as I had the old one off .. wasn't too difficult to line up to within 10,000th of a mm by connecting it to a 1000 size scale chainring and 1000 size scale spider and line them up.

Because I'm sad .. I sat and watched it and listened to it out of interest (a night out with friends we've not seen for a while last night has left me somewhat disabled today, so sitting there dribbling for 10 minutes is ok and perfectly reasonable behaviour).

It's a lot louder than the default ring when picking up the chain from the first 2 gears. It's quiet in the other gears, so it might not be staying on long as that will annoy the hell out of me and if it's making a noise and you can visibly see each link jerk into place on the teeth then, as you say, it's not going to be doing much for chain wear.

bollox.

@Zimmerframe Did you purchase it from upgrade bikes?
I would have been straight on to the seller to let them know they've sent the wrong version.

Ordered it from Primera sports. Just looking at @Fire_2 's photo's , I think he also has the Standard WAVE rings and not the E-RING Wave. So I guess they didn't realise there is a difference in the two ring types - or upgrade sent the shops the wrong rings.

When I say I ordered it, I had to get friends to order it as they would only ship to the cardholders address. Upgrade were out of stock at the time. My friends forgot to take it to the post office, but made up for it by hand delivering it to France yesterday instead... I don't think they'd be overly understanding if I ask them to take it back because it's the wrong one .. !!:oops::poop:

Another pic .. front of the old one and back of the new one .. the raised locating points should be on the front of the e-ring and the back of the standard ring.

Do you have the packaging?
There's an SKU number on there which would clear it up.
Mine was "36-7001 STEEL" for the 36t version, which matches up with the praxis website.
Looking at a photo I took, mine doesn't look like it had raised bits on the front.

Thanks @Pyr0 ,

My packaging and numbers are the same as yours 36-7001. Looking on the praxxis website, the "-7001" code is the code they have listed on their e-ring page.

So ... it must be the right one :)

Just re-checking my link from above for the none e-ring version and that's Aluminium, not steel.

It's a bit weird that the locating bumps are on the back and not the front though. Even on the praxxis site it shows them on the front : Maybe they're just not important. It lines up pretty well just with the spider edges.

I just got the same ring shipped from Praxxis in California. Same part number 36-7001 and mine has the threaded protrusions on the back as well.

Shouldn't the Praxxis label face outward....am I seeing correctly?

Correct. Your image shows it mounted on a levo, where it mounts to the back side of the spider (but it's guide lugs are on the wrong side, so you have to be careful lining up.

SEBA's pictures are on an e8000 - you can see the shimano e8000 chain guide in the background on the first picture. On the e8000 the chainring mounts to the front side of the spider. You can see more clearly on this image :

Which has the advantage that the raised guide lugs align with the spider.

I think I mounted chainring correctly ?! Right ?!
Raised thread is behind the spider
I know bolt are inverted and this is not the normal visual but chainring sitting well bolted well and teeth have good orientation
Also the chainline is preserved
