I need a new headset to fit tapered forks as for some reason the suntours are straight :(

You bought new forks :) ?
At least the headtube is tapered lol. They sure went for the cheapest forks they could get away with. It's acceptable.

The original caged bearings aren't that great anyway (pretty sure I still have a ball somewhere in my frame haha), and the conical spacer in plastic isn't cute either.

P.s: say goodbye to this saddlebag once your dropper is in

Saddle bag is gone already, I didn't like the look so its in the backpack now.

I have a set of forks 'laying around' (and the front wheelset :) ) along with some shimano 2 pots but I can run 200mm all round with them and I think they will be an upgrade on the tektros.

What headset do I need? I don't mind paying for a half decent one.

New tyres (e-wilds) in a 2.6 fingers crossed tomorrow.

Would like a cheap wheelset just for running road/Street tyres if you have any suggestions?

Once that's done, its onto the bling

@DynamicObserver

I got a set of nukeproof neutron.

Nukeproof Neutron Bottom Headset Cup | Chain Reaction Cycles

Pretty sure I bought the T2 top and B8 bottom.

Forks sounds like a nice fit for this bike. Although the original is 120mm.

I run 2.3 &/or 2.2/25. I have too much flex on the front when I'm braking hard (9mm qr, cheap recon silver, cheap wheel) so the tire will rub my mudguard if I go much bigger than that. Also the rims are pretty narrow and I know fatter tires are gonna sit with a bit of "lightbulb shape" on them and just feel weird & squirmy overall.

For cheap wheels just check chainreactioncycle, bike24, bike-discount.de once in a while you will find some cheap ass mavic, shimano, alexrims on discount.

Or keep the original wheelset for the street and buy better wheels for business.

Biking along an old stalkers path not far from Kintail. As the thunder started getting nearer turned tail and raced the 9 miles back to the car.
I had my much younger and fitter brother with me riding his Specalised Levo emtb. We climbed about 2000ft and some of the hills were seriously steep. I had a gear to spare on my Alltrail but he had to give up as he could not manage the final hill.

I'm less psyched about fishing but racks mean adventure to me. Great machine for sure! Your place looks awesome, I hope to visit one day.

Powerful looking bike. Nice tyres!
From my experience though, even in eco, I doubt you will ever see 75 miles. Hope I am wrong :)

@arawa How do you find your range??
Well, I am 67 years old and 14 stone but I would say fairly fit. The picture above was taken on a trip of just over 16 miles with a climb of almost 2000ft over a fairly rough path and on an unladen bike. I used low/eco mode on the way in because I knew there was a long steep climb to come where I would need high/extreme. This used 55% of the battery.
On another more heavily loaded trip of 10.5 miles with a total climb of 1030ft on a muddy/grass track I used exactly half of the battery.
I only use extreme when really necessary because it does drain the battery so quickly - but it is brilliant to have in reserve.

ps. Dropping back down the steep hill braking heavily I idly wondered how hot the disks got. I can say from the massive blister on my finger, very:)

Looks familiar whereabouts in Scotland ?
Upper Glen Affric. Hugely busy just now and the long single-track access is a nightmare with the camper vans who will not or cannot reverse. A lot of walkers and bikers on the trails but once a bit away from the car parks brilliant.
