Anyone got any long term views on the Pilo derailleur hanger?

This one

It certainly looks better than the original. I'm interested to hear if anyone's had one for a while. Is it as robust as it looks? Does it strip itself the first time you remove the rear wheel like the original plastic thing?

Fo 55 Euro I'd expect you to be able to moor a battleship off it.
I know! Sounds expensive but to replace the crappy standard 'pull and turn' retainer, you have to buy the whole mounting kit from Orbea at €25 a time.

The original one on my bike lasted exactly 1 wheel removal. I bought a new one and it's knackered already. It's not the end of the world, it still works when it's all bolted up but remove the wheel and the whole back end falls apart. Not what I want when I'm out and about really.

If the €55 means it'll last then to me, it's worth it.

I know that mech hangers are meant to be sacrificial items and therefore disposable, but I have never had one fail on me. But because they are meant to fail, I have always carried a spare for every bike I've had (and never used it).

Interesting this one, my Rise hanger i was noticing last evening has a little bit of play and i think it's related to this. I assume the ring on the outside is supposed to 'lock' in place which activates the twist and pull ? But if i leave my axle out then the back end can just come apart, so i don't think it's fully locked in at all.

Googling brought me to the Pilo hanger setup but i'd be curious as to anyone who's tried it.

The 'pull and twist' bit is just there to stop the back end falling apart when you take the axle out.

There should be tabs on the round bit which lock into the hanger. They're rubbish and break which means there's nothing to hold the hanger in place. As you can see, if the hanger isn't held in place, the chain stay and seat stay don't stay connected.

I gave up caring after replacing the round thing 3 times.

I just accept that with the axle out, the back end comes apart. I rarely remove the rear wheel anyway.

With the axle fitted, it makes no difference whether the lock ring is engaged with the hanger or not. The axle clamps everything in place.

The Pilo thing uses a snap ring to hold everything together so should be more reliable.

I know the hanger is meant to be sacrificial but I'm amazed at how soft it is. I only have to ride near a rock and it bends. It doesn't have any play though so I'm not sure what's up with yours.
