Palm Canyon Epic. It starts up in the clouds behind us in the picture. It's about 25 miles of mostly black diamond single track winding through the wilderness inhabited by big horn sheep, rattle snakes, needle sharp jumping cactus, hostile Indians (I'm not kidding), and ending in Palm Springs where all the fancy pants celebrities play golf and work on their tans while lounging by the pool.

It's GRRRRREAT. Hella fun. The scenery is magnificent, and the trail is in good condition. After the rain, it's spectacular. And the wildflowers will start blooming soon. You'll be in the wilderness and there's some exposure, so it's for riders with a bit of experience. Bring a tube, tools, nutrition, and water. It's a long walk out and no one is coming to save you. I want to hit it at least one more time before it gets hot.

After a stressful day in the Yorkshire Dales with bike issues but managed to navigate Bunton Hush in one piece I decided somewhat late on yesterday afternoon to head for the hills to test bike repair only to be struck down with Acute severe Rioja Fever so decided to peddle along the coast from mine to Amble. Good choice as the beach’s looked stunning in early morning sunshine. IMG_9506.jpeg IMG_9507.jpeg

Here’s one for our Southern Hemisphere members…..a Eucalyptus Grove outside Woodhorn Village. Apparently this was planted to provide a source of oil for company that closed years ago.
The views along the coast to Coquet Island and Amble were stunning. IMG_9509.jpeg IMG_9510.jpeg

A nice 30 mile round trip. A great way to start the day. IMG_9516.jpeg IMG_9508.jpeg
