Same here, beautiful day and -8 C, but we have sun

Snow is dinging it doon . Motor on kitchen floor be sent away South today so that's my excuse for not going out. Someone ?? left soup on the doorstep hope it wasn't the Curry poisiner. Lot of flooding down South again I seen a lad water skiing on tv .

That's really interesting, iam so up for an MGU bike next but 75% of the time I ride slop in the west country so would be a no go. How easy is it to put back on?

North Yorkshire Moors brutal today - snow has made most of our regular routes impassable, sinking in up to axles at times. Managed to maintain momentum on a few short sections of the Cleveland Way on Ingleby Moor but every other bridleway we tried wasn’t rideable. We managed just 8 miles in almost 2 hours, pushing in many sections.
4WD vehicles have created some wheel ruts with a rideable compacted surface but still a challenge avoiding pedal strikes in the solid ice 'walls'. Lots of lethal sheet ice in the few sections without snow.
Otherwise all good

Couple of minutes each time. On this bike and I would imagine any full suss with a belt, you have to release the tensioner in order to allow the belt to be replaced on the rear sprocket but it was obviously not sitting tight on the sprocket because the valleys in the belt were clogged with mud. The dirt is shit around here, so it may be a local thing.
After 6 mucky miles the tree gods then decided to punish me 6 times in the next mile!
Think that Bridleway's to be avoided for now. Shame because it's a nice way to get to "The Trundle" ...

Tree Gods? That looks like enemy action to me.
If it was Silvanus he's certainly got it in for an atheist like me. The big pussy is in Scotland ATM but when I got home I did get quite a welcome from a younger much smaller (rescue) pussy ... probably because she was hungry!
Mud being an enemy of belts is a very interesting point, the mud near us is f7cking horrible so belts are out! For example:
Fantastic winter ride today ..just over the hill from where I live in the Pundershaw area of Kielder Forest ..Wayne headed my way to join me..on what was a fairly tough & demanding ride where concentration levels had to be 100% especially on the fireroad sections where touching the side of a rut had you off the bike straight away ( I had at least half a dozen 
) .
We managed 19miles and 1414ft.ascent which given the conditions was a fairly decent effort ..

Cold one today on the old Cromford Canal, even the old canal tunnel by the Excavator pub had icicles inside (which rarely happens unless it drops way below freezing). And the canal was frozen over.

This was my first ride out in a few weeks due to one thing or another and it was a cracker. With my riding buddy @The Hodge we left Bellingham (Northumberland) for a ride in his back garden Kielder Forest. Glorious winter sunshine with temps at -8 degC. It’s a 40 mile drive to his from mine all in sub zero temps , and the bike on a carrier little wonder then the seat post actuation lever/cable housing has frozen. So out with a hair drier and in few minutes we were off.
The usual trails were mostly unrideable due to deep snow but the fire roads provided much entertainment as mentioned in Neil’s post. A great winter ride.
