I thought it was a pizza manys the drunken night I got a slice coming out of the Sports bar in Stavanger. I did like Norway I must admit.A quick trip into town after cycling 25 km in the forest for an Indian lunch that tasted heavenly but I have no idea what the dishes were called or what they were made of. Not a single Sports bar at Grønland just the highest crime rate area mixed up with delicious food and crazy drunken people mostly eating kebab.I thought it was a pizza manys the drunken night I got a slice coming out of the Sports bar in Stavanger. I did like Norway I must admit.
Near Oslo I think you are. Only passed through going to job in Halden once. My last trip to Norway was during covid on a ship at Hammersmith . How many runs have you had on this Merida? Was there any problem with the engine?A trail I ride regularly is on the edge of an old coal-mining area. There used to be over 20 coal mines. Each one of them was pumping out colliery waste, known as slag in the UK. The waste was deposited in huge piles, known as slag heaps. Some of them were very large indeed. But that was many, many years ago and all that is left are the grassed over slag heaps and the pit head of the last coal mine Clipstone Colliery, which was closed in 2003.
At various times, the slag heaps have been levelled and/or rounded off and then covered over with sand and either left to nature or planted. The results depend upon when the work was done. We have forest from scores of years ago, or scrubby desert from the most recent work.
Here is a shot of the Clipstone colliery from the top of one of the old slag heaps. The yellow shrubbery is gorse, which is a very spiny shrub. It is very robust and is typically one of the first plants to arrive. You can still see the sand that was laid over the slag. This locationis one of the highest points for miles around. Follow the ridge from behind me and you get to the desert, which is literally, just sand. It could be in the USA except there are no cacti.

Here is a climb through the gorse to get to the top. The trail is steep enough that rain washes away the sand, so the surface has been armoured with red shale. Even that has suffered with the relentless rain we've had in the past few months and the surface has just been scraped flat to improve accessibility for walkers.

I wish that I had taken that shot on my previous ride as the gorse was in full bloom in brilliant sunshine and it was like riding up a luminous yellow tunnel.

I don't know how many runs I have done on my Merida eOne-Sixty. But as at 13th May'24, I have done 2886 miles (4635 km) since 22nd Jul'21. I have had zero problems with the Shimano 630Whr battery and zero problems with the Shimano EP8 motor. How many runs have you had on this Merida? Was there any problem with the engine?
I myself have an eOne-Sixty 8000, today the mileage is about 12,000 km. The battery and the motor are fine, of course there is a loss in the capacity of the battery and the gears in the motor are the same worn out (I feel it), but everything works and the bike is really balanced! saddens, of course, the small power reserve relative to brose and boschI don't know how many runs I have done on my Merida eOne-Sixty. When I first got it, I could just about hear the clattering that some people complain about when descending. I soon forgot about and I don't hear it now. If I hadn't read about it, I wouldn't have been listening out for it and I may not have heard it.
The motor tuning available via the Shimano E-TUBE app is excellent and really makes a huge difference. When the display comes on and you put it in Eco, the range came on at 105miles (169km), but it now reads 96m (155km). Very approximately Trail is half of Eco and Boost is half that of Range, so 50m and 25m.
When it first came out this bike model got very good reviews and I agreed with them once I got the chance to ride the bike.

What do you mean by "small power reserve"?..................! saddens, of course, the small power reserve relative to brose and bosch
Nice to see . Up my way good till next Wednesday They are saying . Get out there eh.Cracking day, probably best of the week. A great plummet down off the hill on single track . . View attachment 140350 View attachment 140351
What do you mean by "small power reserve"?
It could be the motors, but I believe that it is much more likely to be rider weight (rider+kit+bike), differences in fitness, or wider and/or stickier tyres. And don't forget the impact of tyre pressures and the tread pattern on rolling resistance.I did the maximum on a new battery of 1800 meters of climb in the most economical mode. My comrades at bosch and brose make 2000 and more. With the same battery capacity
Sky and a half that mate.
Tarland is a must next week I thinkWell the journey continues, and Scotland really excelled itself today , spent the day at Glenlivet bike park, wow is all I can say , what a place , the views are awesome but the trails are in a league of their own. If you've not been you really should, from the excellent cafe , to the steep and rocky reds , the eye-opening blacks and the flowy blues this place has it all. I even tried the orange free ride , but at my age I was lucky to get away with it, you need some commitment to ride that run . Thanks Glenlivet I'll be back !!!

Im thinking Glen Feshie worth a look head past Achlean farm a couple miles the left up to Mullach Clach a Bhlair land rover track all the way up .Then you go back towards Sgor Goath and back down the single track or go back the way you came. Glen Tromie is in that area s well I heard that's worth a look.Well Scotland leaves me amazed again another big day in the saddle today, ride high up into the Cairngorms then back down and up to Rothiemurchus lodge and cut across to ride up part of the Lairig Ghru till it got a bit too extreme for me, hardest uphill ride I've ever attempted, so many pedal strikes!!!turned round eventually and rode back down which was awesome. Then up the next glen over to a loch with no way out , and back down again simply beautiful. Such a great country to ride in .loving Scotland!!
