Eight HARD miles today on the Doña Ana trails. LOTS of stops for my ride mates who were all on acoustic bikes.
And, no, there were no sticks to prop ‘er upright.

Currently on holiday this long ANZAC weekend. Just gonna pootle around and explore Whitianga, so we took our eMTBs with us (the only bikes we’ve got).
Now we’ve taken our bikes all over the place before, but usually around places frequented by cyclists - no one even bats an eye lid. But around touristy areas, they still create a bit of a stir... so many people commenting and staring at the bikes. It appears that there’s a fair number of people that have never seen eMTBs before? ?
We decided to take the ferry crossing to go see Cook’s Harbour before we hit the cafes, and there were whispered murmurings, “What? Motocross bicycles?” Puzzled, I looked at my Giant Trance e+pro wondering what the fuss was about. Oh... hmm, I guess so... I never saw it that way before, oops!

That EMF aka Aquaman is some bloke ..you can take the water out of the boy ..but you can't keep the boy out of the water ..
In this first pic ..after I'd cocked up my fairly easy exit from the stream with an otb travelling from left to right he insisted that he'd heard something splash in the water from my backpack ( nothing had ) ..but went into newt mode and started crawling towards the waters edge muttering something about a babbling brook when he'd had his fill of splashing around we continued on with the ride ...
I should have known after this little episode that it would be a huge mistake taking him to a waterfall.. but as soon as I mentioned it his eyes lit up and there was no going back ..even though it was slightly off route ..
This is him wildly excited to be there ...
..and before I could stop him he started stripping down to his budgie smugglers for a swim ..
You may have seen a similar snap to this earlier..only difference is the rider..
..and if he hadn't already had enough h2o ..he insisted upon finding another stream to splash through before the end even though it was 5 miles out of the way ...strewth !
Disclaimer : I've never posed for a catalogue in my life ..featured in a few porno movies but that's about it ..
The wedge of chocolate cake supplied to EMF was to mark the passing of my 64th year on this day in history..so don't even think everyone will be getting cake on the Dent ride ..?

It’s the hills above the Breamish Valley in the Northumberland National Park.......remote, desolate and stunning.Great pics as usual and happy birthday to you. Looks like a great place to ride. ?
