Amazing what you find in the woods innit?!? Never noticed ^ this before despite having ridden past it hundreds of times... it’s just a few yards from one of the main trails.

The trail is predominantly an old logging tramway that serviced a sawmill in the late 1800s.

They have been back burning the bush this year so we dont get massive fires again next summer . the ground was still smoking away , if only i had a covid mask to filter the smoke smell

Yeah was shocking earlier this week around the Glasshouse as the rain must have put it out just after it was started and it smoldered all night.

I was passing a small lake near my local trail and could see it was tadpole time!

When I looked across the lake, I could see great swirls of black where the taddies were congregating, like murmurations of Starlings at dusk. Sadly the photo I took doesn't do it justice. The fish in the lake must have eaten their fill because even the goldfish I could see on the surface were not eating them.
A few years ago I came slightly later in the cycle, when it was frog migration time. All the fully grown taddies were now perfectly formed black frogs about half an inch long. They were leaving the lake for the woods, en masse! The trail was a carpet of moving frogs. It was impossible to pass them without squashing scores with every step. The birds were having a field day, gorging themselves silly!

Finally back where she belongs atop the Surrey Alps, unfortunately managed to snap my rear axle about 10 minutes later ?‍. Never seen the trails run so dry.

Dust! In the uk!?first ride in the chase for 8 weeks,the trails which are open are looking very tired now and the the assagai broke away on three occasions in the dry dust..I wouldn’t mind if it was on the rear??

Likely to be an optical illusion, but the more I look at it, the bike isn’t too far away from a side view profile. Is that a reverse mullet by any chance??
