That qc may be fighting a test case against a very well funded government wanting to send a firm statement to people who illegally modify their bikes. Add in the fact he " fled" from the scene, this isn't going to end well for the rest of us.

Fleeing the scene is a separate charge and would probably get dropped off in favour of the more serious charge. The government creates the legislation but unfortunately they aren't the police prosecutors, they are the ones who provide the arguments in court, as much as the government jumps up and down, they can't determine the court outcome.
