overconsumption of cr2032 battery of the AXS control

hi everyone

I have a problem with my AXS seat post order.

I eat CR32 batteries like hotcakes! 3 in 2 months to be exact.

I told myself that it could be due to the cold because my mountain bike was parked in my garage which is semi-insulated.

But on the one hand, the temperature never drops below 12 degrees.

And on the other hand, I don't have this problem with the pod battery which controls the transmission ((I'm in GX T TYPE).

Who has any idea what the cause of the problem is?

Bearing in mind that I know absolutely nothing about AXS seat posts - perhaps the seat post is draining the batteries while in the garage? If so, is there any way of turning off the seat post while not being used?

It's not stupid. but the asx seat post is equipped with an automatic sleep readout....
Or maybe there's something I'm missing.

Maybe it's not automatically sleeping, is this a configuration option/threshold?

I just checked. this cannot be configured. this standby is automatic.

I had this exact issue today. Started riding and no gear selection. Light on the DR, but no light on the handlebar switch.
The app showed the battery was ok, but changing it cured the problem.
I've never had an issue through the summer and had renewed the battery in November.
My thoughts on this is that the CR2032 suffered being in the cold outside garage.
Are you sure your area in France didn't see lower than 12 degrees this winter?
I also wonder if the Energiser brand I removed has a shorter life than the Duracell's I normally use.

As far as I know axs batteri under the seat goes to sleep if there is no vibration and wakes up when shaken bur the CR battery inside the switch is on 24/7 just like a watch or Airtag and should last at least a year including in your temperature environment.
Don't know what but sometimes serious wrong maybe shortcut in the switch take it apart for inspection and cleaning or try another one.

Surely the switch only sends a BT message when you operate it, a watch is always functional and an air tag is constantly broadcasting BT to find a nearby device.

This might be a good idea. I'll try cleaning the inside with contact cleaner.

That's true especially if they were the same age and brand

There is one other thing to consider. The brand of cr2032 battery. Most of the major brands are ok.…but Duracell coin type has a very thin film which may interfere with positive battery contact.

I use Duracell but I give them a very light sanding with 600grit emery cloth before I install them.

Panasonic or other brands may not use this thin protective coating.

Because of the thin film, which coats the entire battery, power contact may not be very good, or sometimes intermittent. Its happened to me before on the AXS dropper controller.

A pod constantly sending blutooth will deplete quicker. The sleep mode of an AXS mech or a AXS seatpost has no impact on the POD, that functionality, whether pre set or programmable merely protects the battery in the mech/seat post. The POD emits a blutooth signal when the POD button is pressed. Given all of that , the most likely cause of a cr2032 going flat in a short time is therefore most likely due to a short circuit in the POD caused by water ingress, or condensation inside.
