Going to check these out. Are they cheaper than the stock OEM pads? Because those aren't cheap either.
From memory the kit is 28 quid for a set of pads, the fins and a spare set of pads. So you need to spend 56 quid for a full bike (to get 2 sets of fins) but you end up with spare pads for both wheels as well.

Great thread. One learning we've come across when using sintered pads (specifically useful to eBikes) is that when metal dust comes off the pads under braking it is naturally attracted to anything magnetic. For most brake pads/rotors this is a small amount - however under heavy braking with some pads the metal dust can build up on the speed sensor magnet (fixed to the rear rotor with two bolts).

Worth checking. In a few circumstances we've seen the speed sensor magnet bolts become magnetized - metal dust then sticks to these and the net effect is that the speed sensor signal to the motor is tripled and the motor believes you are going 3 times faster than you really are & slows you down to match 1/3 of the legal speed limit. Hence a regular service tip would be to check your speed sensor magnet - make sure it is clean and no metallic dust is stuck to it. If the bolts do become magnetized, simply remove them and drop them on a hard surface a few times to demagnetize them.

So this would also upset the walk function?

Check if your brakes can use metal pads before you go any further . Shimano will have it written in the disc not to use metal pads .
I prefer the better bite and performance of an organic or possibly mixed pad , they wear faster but are much better in the wet especially , discs won’t wear as fast iether as the pad material is softer .
If you want to significantly improve the bite of shimano brakes fit fibrax rotors and organic pads , they are not expensive but a huge improvement , a bigger disc is also worth considering and easy upgrade if your on 160 or less dia rotors but you’ll need a new caliper mount

Link to where you buy fibrax pads? Looks like only UK? Do you know if they will work well on SRAM Guide RE brakes on 2018 Levo? Do they sqeal less in wet conditions than sintered? Thanks.

You can buy from fibrax direct . And yes I do find the softer pads squeal less in the wet , they seem to squeal when fist wet then they seem to just bite through the wet and stop squealing

Well shucks that's too bad. Shipping cost more than the pads themselves to the USA. Will have to keep looking. Our evening showers leave the leaves on our very tight trails soaking wet every morning, with the leaves constantly hitting the rotors, so the brakes howl all the way down an entire downhill run. Gets old fast.

Our evening showers leave the leaves on our very tight trails soaking wet every morning, with the leaves constantly hitting the rotors, so the brakes howl all the way down an entire downhill run. Gets old fast.

They sell on eBay , and Iam sure they make the pads for other brands , fibrax have been around for years making brake materials . I bought some branded Ergon pads that look identical
