Hi there I am posting as colwolves for obvious reasons . I ride a giant trance pro 2 ebike and love how it rides. However , I have had battery problems with water getting to battery and causing it to cut out has anyone else had this problem ? It is currently with Specialised concept store in Nottingham . While there they found wear in the drive system and sent me the following Email is this correct that I should expect to replace the chain and cassette and other drive components every 1000km ? I am a moderate user mostly riding blue type trails. I bought the bike in March for £3600 from Rutland cycles.
Direct quote from email below.
In terms of component wear and tear, all chains and cassettes will only mostly last approx 1000km as they are a replaceable/consumable part and as you purchased a 'high-spec' bike the components that are fitted to the bike are of a higher price point due to the materials and finish of the part. A cheaper unit would not handle the torque and stress an e-bike puts through them. A regular cyclist should change their bikes chain and cassette every year to allow continued efficient working service of these parts.

I think your weight and riding style with impact how long the chain and cassette will last, however bike shops will generally not provide warranty support for those types of components...
