Hello everyone! 👋

I’m currently exploring the exciting world of e-MTBs and thought this forum would be the perfect place to learn and share experiences. I’m from the Netherlands, where the trails might not be mountainous, but there are still plenty of great rides to be had!

I’m looking for an e-MTB that can help me stay fit while providing the right amount of electric support due to some health challenges. For me, it’s all about finding the perfect balance between physical effort and motor assistance to keep enjoying the outdoors and staying active.

I’m still in the research phase, so any advice, tips, or recommendations are more than welcome. Looking forward to learning from your experiences and hopefully sharing mine soon as well!

Happy riding! 🚵‍♂️⚡

Welcome to the forums.
Cheers

Ps; say 👋🏻 hi to my son and family who are in Geldrop. He’s tried to explain to me how flat it is there.

Whereabouts in the Netherlands? I was visiting my mate in Eindhoven recently and it's flatter than a witch's tit!

this has gone from emtb's to witches tits, nice but in relation to your bike make sure its pedal assist and go something with a bosch motor, I am using a cube reaction hybrid pro and am loving it. you can go quickly with not much effort in turbo or use a lot of effort and cruise in eco.

Goedemorgen...

You mention trails and I am assuming off-road/cross country as you are looking at electric mountain bikes. Your health issues may indicate a certain type of bike but you don't mention the nature of the issues. I have leg issues following spinal surgery so I need assistance for climbs only. I went for a full fat Merida initially but soon lost weight and now mainly ride a lightweight e-mtb. I do keep the Merida for the sloppy winter rides...

What I am saying is; decide on the type of trails, use your health issues to define the type bike/assistance and then go with the best fit you can find at the price you have budgeted.

Dag zwaard1,
ik heb een / I have a Scott Lumen eRide 910 with a TQ HPR50 motor of 360 Wh. I like it, because of that motor it is not such a heavy bike (17,5 kg) and it gives met (61 years) enough support to conquer the hills around Brussels and still be able to ride with my 10-15 years younger teammates. In your case I would not recommend those heavy 650+ Wh bikes as they give way too much support, and you won't be able to achieve your goal of staying fit.

Groet!

Hi Saberone,
Soon to be welcomed in this magnificent world of E-mtb's.
I'm dutch too.
You living in Breda I suppose you want to ride near home. And yes, it is flat over there.
'Dutch mountains' are nowhere high enough for a (long) downhill ride, but you can get a little fun.
Only, ever considered to travel for some 2 hours? You can be in the Belgium Ardennes. That might be nice for a start. Next stop will be Bavaria, Austria or France. That's one day drive by car.
All this in short: Your choice of bike depends on where you want to ride.
Staying near home and take in consideration your health-issue whatsoever you might stick with any sort of e-bike. Just take notice of your personal preferences, bodymeassures and budget.
In the Ardennes a fully is preferable, mostly no more than 140 is needed. the slopes are mostly doable with a light e-mtb.
In the Alps a fully and a full motor is the best way to go.
I myself do 4 weeks a year the Alps (up with the ski-cablecars and down over what ever comes in front of me) and the rest in the flats of Holland, Ardennes and the German bikeparks of Sauerland. All this with just one bike. I ride a Levo turbo and it works everywhere. I picked this bike for its multi-possibilities.
See if you can rent a bike and build your own opinion.
Good luck and hope you soon will join the club.

I also have the TQ motor (360wh battery) on my Fuel EXE. The main reason I purchased this bike was to ride on the flats with my wife(PowerFly). I use the Rail for high altitude or trail work days. But I find that the full suspension Fuel is very capable for any of our mountain trails. It’s a different workout but really fun for the downhills.

I quickly switch the wheels(and tires )of my Fuel to ride on gravel, the flats, paved roads or tame trails when I ride with my wife. It’s become my multipurpose bike.
