Well, after the perceived reliability of the Brose you’d definitely guess something like that will come. Do they have a 1.2 with a bump in the wings I wonder?

This bike is a good opportunity for ebikes, I have just picked up a Giant fastroad and there were not many manufacturers with bikes in this segment to choose from.

With two bottle cage mounts you could stick two range extenders on it and potentially have almost a 300km range. Covers a lot of people's commute needs !

Do you think they'll do a give away with a partner ? like collect 20,000 Ready Brek box lids for a base model ?

I think its expensive for what it is in the segment, no surprise there though - there are a lot of Fazua powered bikes out there in that marketplace aside from all the full powered ones at lower price points., and having a non removable battery for commuting is bit of a pain imo.

On another note Specilized are just about to release the Status, a mullet park/freeride bike - looks like a perfect candidate for sticking the SL motor in to me

As for the cost of the Vado, compared to the silly money price of even the E5 version of the Creo SL they seem cheap. That not withstanding I still like them and I expect I’m not alone.

I am actually in the market for a commuting ebike, however the Specilized looks bit boring to me.
I can get quite a good price on one of these, so might pull the trigger. I like the fact I can remove the motor and battery for security, but also to use as a normal bike if required.

Also tempted by the Boardman, dont like the looks as much but at just over 2k its a bargain.

I think it’s clear from the geometries of the Vado and that Hoxton that these things would feel more like rigid road MTBs than flat bar road/gravel bikes.

The Vado looks nice, but for the vast majority of the cycle commuters is still too expensive, though I am sure Spec have worked out what they need to make money off of their (perceived premium) brand. In reality hub motored bikes are absolutely fine for all but the hilliest of commutes, and probably more reliable too.

My father in laws has this Bergamont, with DI2 Alfine hub - its as bulletproof at Ebikes come and just as fast as a racier looking bike round town, if not more so due to the riding position - if you actually want to get a bike to commute on and lug stuff around on bikes like this cant be beaten, and its about as low maintenance as an ebike can be. Even has a lock built into it. The bergamnont bikes are incredibly well built too

Love my new Vado 5.0 SL. Pulled components off my old Sirrus (SRAM AXS EAGLE drivetrain/Ultimate brakes, Ergon Saddle, Crank Bros platform pedals, Ritchey Seatpost, SQ Lab Carbon handlebars, Ergon grips with Specialized bar ends) and upgraded wheelset to Roval C38's with Schwalbe 35mm Marathon tires. Rides like a champ and is very agile. Purchased the Range Extender battery and ride mostly in Sport (trail) mode. Average about 50 miles with lots of climbing. Actually rides pretty decent in full manual mode so I never worry if I do run out of battery. Wish they made a Carbon frame model.

We were climbing up the highway on mt macP chatting in trail mode and a young girl on a vado with a wicker basket on the hzndle bars went flying by us. My buddy and i were surprised and both at the same time cheered her on "right on!!" "wahoooo!!". Eebs are semi accdpted here but you'd be more apt to hear nothing rather thzn cheering. She laughed and kept hammering. In our books she's part of our bike gang eh ?
