The current Mission Control app which I use to control my Creo by setting a heart rate above which the bike helps is to be shut down on 31 January 2024. The new (replacement) app does not contain this feature. I have only owned the bike for 4 month and bought it because it was the only E Bike which had that functionality. My Creo is now going to become worthless to me very soon. Specialized do not seem to care about what I (and presumably others) think about this. Why on earth they would nor simply leave the old app in place for those who need it is beyond me.

"My Creo is now going to become worthless to me very soon." Monitor your pulse rate (many ways to do so) and adjust the assist level. Or donate your "worthless" bike to a good cause.

Few Minutes ago I opened MC and read: "MC no longer available at the End of January!

New Specialized App bla, bla, bla... I wanted to download it at the Play Store

I got the same message from MC for my 2019 Levo. So I installed the Specialized App, and guess what? It has NO functionality to view OR update the bike's firmware. I've only ever used MC for firmware updates, and use BLevo for all my rides.

I'll wait until the end of this month to check that MC really stops, and then I'll raise a support ticket with Spesh regarding the lack of FOTA functionality. I've already asked them if they are dropping support for older bikes, but no answer yet.

CORRECTION: I just checked Spesh support centre webpage for the new Specialized App and if the Bike Status says "Healthy" everything is up to date. If there is an update pending, the status should say "Update Available". Since my bike has had no firmware releases for 12 months I can't test anything yet. This is a PITA as I paid the LBS to update the battery firmware 12 months ago to use the Charge Limit feature, but that turned out be be a dud since the feature has stopped working. Spesh have been promising a fix for months, but zero help so far....

You're surprised?
We're on Android 14 already, the 15 beta is out and 15 will be released in August...

So, Mission Control is dead, and the new app offers 'Everything and More'
Except there is a huge amount of data missing- Battery voltage, battery health, motor current, motor temperature, motor hours, software versions firmware versions, serial numbers etc etc etc....
Does this mean all this is no longer available on the new app? Or do I need a different app, or am I just not finding where this data is hidden on the new app?

Just carry on using the red Mission Control app, it won’t stop working, it just won’t be available to download (so don’t delete it from your phone).

I’ve still got the original Mission Control and even that still works….

Better, as suggested, use BLevo

Uninstall the last update. Then install v3.22. It works, still many functions are dissabled by Specialized OTA.
My Mission Control stopped working, it just directs you to getting the new app. Is there any way to clear that screen to allow it to work again?

I still have Mission Control on my Android phone, and it still works without problems, you just have to refuse the update (Skip button at the bottom)

It really is utter garbage. I was going to make a note of the serial numbers of my batteries, not possible.
Check for updates? Doesn't appear possible.
Motor serial number and current draw? Not possible.
Absolute trash and the old functional version no longer connects.

I agree with everyone that thinks the forced switch to the new app is trash. Does anyone know how to separate battery level reading for bike battery and range extender, in the new app? Sometimes I use "drain RE first" and that means I can't just do the math on the overall percentage left.

And what's this 'advanced diagnostics' feature all about? It seems to generate a secret file of data you cannot see, sends it to Specialized, who presumably then say there is an unspecified problem, and to take it into a dealer to be fixed? I assume this is how it works, has anyone used it yet?

Mission Control had the same functionality

I have the new Specialized app for my levo because they disabled Mission Control.

I never use the new app but was diddling around and noticed I was behind on firmware updates for display and motor.

So I rode by the specialized shop and did a quick flash. Definitely updated because it wiped out my custom tune settings. I could tell immediately.

So I changed it, BTW, you can't save custom tune settings in the app. Ridiculous.

While in the app I thought I'd look to verify both firmware updates happened. Uh, no, after updating the firmware the app no longer displays the firmware version.

I googled around and specialized has stated that'll be added on a future release.

What? It was in Mission Control and it was in the new app but then got removed and now it'll be a new feature in the future.

Specialized really shit the bed in the rollout of this app. All they had to do is leave mission control alone for a year but no...

They must have hired the software management team from Sonos

I really hate the way the world is going with software. You buy a product, assume you own it, but the manufacturers have got you by the balls with the software. It's increasingly encrypted, has no user access, forced to have unwanted updates, all useful information and data is getting hidden, anything that goes wrong is dealer only to fix it, and when the dealer pulls the plug and won't support the software, or goes bust, the expensive hardware becomes scrap.
Apple are bad at this, with their locked in ecosystem, and built in obsolescence by way of irreversible fat updates which bloat products so they stop working properly, so you have to buy another one. And yes Sonos are like this, a mate has a load of their gear, he said brilliant hardware, but the software makes everything locked in and obsolete like Apple.

Oh gosh I hope Specialized doesn't go the way of Sonos... a few years ago Sonos updated their app and removed support for all v1 hardware... They brought it back after huge backlash. I can see why Spec' would want a single app vs two but I still can't figure out what was wrong with the old one. Had everything we needed, maybe older UI but who cares? So much functionality was removed (ability to save profiles, ability to see firmware revisions, see remaining batt % separately for main batt and extender if you own an SL, and the list goes on and on).

Hi !

I'm totally disappointet with the restrictions in the new fancy App...

Old App:

- Take a spare Motor with brose Firmware to your bike holiday, if Motor is defect: connect new motor to the system, start App, load actual Speci Firmware on it, ride it !
- Motor and System Firmware versions are visible and over the air updateable.
--> Did this a few times and never had an issue during update

New App:

- nothing, no versions, no over the Air updates possible.
- going to a premium specialized dealer: Dealer wants 95€ for a firmware update due to the official Specialist pricelist "Turbo Menu" including a "health check" My 2 good small Speci shops were which didi this in a normal price range were kicked by specialized.

I hope this will come back...

Best regards,

Chris

Yea it does suck.
And specialized don't seem to care.... and I'm starting to dislike the brand more and more ... there products are good. but the attitude and support is a F*** u approach.

My current Levo will most likely be the last Specialized product I own, not that they care... they have become the Apple of the bicycling world. You do not own the bike ... even though you bought it.

Just my delusional opinion
