Wouldn't be surprised given the issues with the Brose QC they have been having, but is a hell of an investment to build you own - I suspect they will have partnered with someone for the road bike motor, I wonder who?

Motor 1.95kg, 240W power, 35Nm torque. So not really suitable for emtbs (except for maybe light weight XC bikes), but we'll see if there will be Specialized own motor for mtbs in the future.

The new motor. From what I've read its entirely developed and manufactured by Specialized. That means they are no longer bound my OEM's motor weight and dimensions... so they can develop both frame and motor together.

This one is £7500. The Evo, gravel version.

I've seen regular Specialized road bikes in my local dealers at £10k.

I'm not a road biker at all. But I would like to try the gravel one.

I suppose it does come with two $399 range extender batteries so it's good value really ?.

I used to have a CAADX and I couldn't get on with road riding either, these do look really nice though.

On a related note, I have a Turbo Levo Comp set aside, just waiting for my cycle scheme voucher to arrive. Does this having a Specialized motor suggest that the 2020 Levo's will too? I don't really want to buy a bike where I can't get a replacement motor a couple of years down the line.

My hunch is what we see here will have input into Levo 2021.

Though perhaps in the next few hours I'll be proved wrong.

Developed their own motor? My first thought is that was a massive undertaking, but perhaps not. I'm guessing most of the technology is not new. Does give them the advantage that they can make exactly what they want, whereas an OEM manufacturer has to please many clients.

Call this morning a Spec dealer and told me he's waiting for Kenevo news today, so, who believe?

orbea gain has more torque than that at 40nm.....and the cannondale neo more again at 50nm and 500wh battery


and both are a hell of a lot less than 7k
