New rear wheel on order

I've been running a set of wheels given to me. Front is 29" CF Exile and back is 27.5, 35mm exile+ aluminum. I've changed the freewheel once in about 1 1/2 to 2 years of riding and I noticed many hub cracks the other night. 11 out of 32 spokes holes on the drive side are cracked. The spokes are single butted 2mm, 1.6mm so not the strongest but not broken either. The aluminum shimano freewheel driver is gouged up as usual. This wheel assy weight about 1053g with tape and valve. I just ordered a new wheel. I went with DT Swiss 350 Hybrid hub, 24t ratchet, steel cassette driver, beefier hub for ebikes, double butted DT spokes 2.1, 0.8, 2mm with some special nipples and washers that come with the 35mm hx521 rim. The total weight is about the same too, maybe 1075g or so. I'm running my Novatec with the 462 freewheel until my new wheel arrives. I'm hoping this will last a bit longer on my 2018 jam2. The front still looks very sound for now.

While I put a new Baron Mk3 rim on my old wheel, my new wheel just arrived. I screwed up a little bit and didn't order the black spoke nipples I wanted but it still looks OK with the silver ones I think. Not exactly the look I was after but then again I don't hate it and it does match the silver valve. The weight comes in at 1174 with tape and valve and that's understandable with the steel cassette driver which I think is a must for a Shimano cassette and an ebike. The 24t ratchet feels coarse but is probably OK given the motors ratchet is pretty coarse as well.

Looks fine to me mate and I’m sure it will be of good quality being dt Swiss. I am just trying to order one of their wheel sets too but things are so hard to get at the moment… have fun !

Just rode it today and love it. I didn't even notice that it's 15 deg engagement since the motor itself is probably that coarse as well.
