New Rail with Tyre pressure sensor

My 9.9 just arrived, can't give any real impressions yet as it's dark and not ridden it yet, however I have noticed it has some Sram Quarq tyre pressure sensors !, Didn't even know such things existed !, The spec from Trek doesn't mention including them, maybe it's a 2021 thing, anyway, anyone else got/used them ?, Not sure of their value, It looks like they work with the AXS app, rather than the Bosch system on the bike

All you need now is auto-inflate and linking to GPS and you can adjust tyre pressure as you go to suit the terrain. Add in a weather app and it will adjust for the temperature and the presence of snow, mud, dust. Yayyyyy!

not impressed. That's my nature though - simple, less complex hopefully means less to go wrong. I could imagine sram doing a great deal with trek as a form of advertising / getting them out there.

I think they are cool and have value. For example, using the SRAM AXS app, you can set an optimal tire pressure RANGE. If the pressure is too high, the gauge will blink quickly (red), if the pressure is too low the gauge will blink slowly (red), and if pressure is within your programmed range the gauge blinks green. This lets you know if your pressure is off, by how much, and if its too high or too low without having to pull out a tire pressure gauge or pump. Enjoy ??.

I really like gadgets but I’m stuck with using the old-school method for now (a psi gauge and gentle hand squeeze). It’s taken me several months to perfect this touch and I generally guess within +/- 4lbs. Sometimes I can guess 0-psi just by looking at my tire.
Seems like these psi sensors would be lighter than my gauge and more accurate than my sensitive touch. ?

My motorbike has tps , it’s fantastic peace of mind when your riding and you can just check your pressures on the display . It removes that hassle of checking pressures every time you ride , and if the handling ever feels off , due to road surface usually , it’s great peace of mind to just look at the display and rule out tyre pressure . It’s also good to see the pressure rise as they warm up , which I guess is less of a factor on a bicycle . If it shows in the display it’s a nice feature .

It might not be too long before they integrate more features into a condensed cockpit configuration. Wireless psi’s, wireless shifter, wireless dropper, wireless cadence, anti-lock brakes, fall indicator, gps location, elevation sensor, auto-video streaming, …I suppose we can’t complain since we use peddle assist.

Most of the time I ride alone so in the unfortunate event (which has happened) I have a serious crash, I’d like to be found. Besides those safety features, the other accessories are nice options.
