It's good to see a dedicated emtb forum, ebikes are really growing and finally becoming more accepted, I have been on one for almost 10 years, now you find people treat you just like another bike for the most part. There are still the purist who make the grumpy comments on the trail, but, pretty much everybody gets along.
This forum looks to be a good place for information, hopefully I manage to hang out here a bit.

Welcome, just found my way over to the e-mtb side myself. I was shocked yesterday that the only thing about my ride that changed was distance covered. My heart rate was still where it would have been on my analog bike, except I rode farther and for longer.

Ebikes are definitely growing at a fast rate here in So CA. I was one of the 1st in my area to embrace the FUN of ebikes and now at least 4 others have gone to the FUN side. Many more are going to be making the change soon.

I have yet to get on single-track with the new bike, but I'm already motivated to go gravel ride. 40+ miles this weekend and already thinking about my next ride this week.

Amazing how much fun the ebike adds, rode for an hour and kept my heart rate just as high as my analog bike would have.

Weclome! I'm only halfway to a decade in on ebikes after 25+ on Stumpies and such, but I'll keep trying to catch up with you o_O

I've also encountered acceptance and encouragement on the trails - it's the Board of my regional MTB Ass'n that lobbies land managers, bike shops etc. to ban ALL ebikes from trails under 8' wide. I say the Board because, after 5+ years of loudly railing against ebike access, they only recently "polled" their ~7k membership on the matter, asking leading questions along the lines of: How do you feel about the imminent threat posed to MTB trail access by electric assist "mountain bikes," which can climb steep hills at 20 mph or faster?

As a result, they were able to get a few states' park overlords to ban or severely restrict legal access "until further studies are done." In 5+ years on eMTBs (several thousand hours), I can only remember one person saying "that's a motorbike" or sum such derogatory remark, yet the New Eng MTB Asses' BoDs insists that mountain bikers overwhelmingly oppose pedelec trail access, and consider them motor vehicles.

As more MTBers get older, however, that'll change. Meanwhile I ride anywhere MTBs are allowed - let them try to catch me  (or I can shut power down and say I was riding unassisted)

I'm grateful to be able to vary my assist level so I can keep a constant aerobic (vs. anaerobic) heart rate, which as a non-athlete my body appreciates, too. I have some steepass climbs on my local trails that I used to push half the time, which ain't phun at all
