Reading on the specialized Facebook pages that spesh has released a new firmware for older 1.2 and 1.3 motors. Aparantly the 5.0.4 firmware reduced power by 20%. This new version is meant to restore this.Log in or sign up to view

Happy to provide some input here @Matt b. Latest FW for 1.2 motors is 5.4.0, for 1.3 motors is 5.0.4 (I know the reversal of the .4 is confusing on the 1.3, but trust me). We haven't released new FW for either of these motors for several months, Brose may release newer FW for these motors at some point but we're not expecting anything in the imminent future.

Neither FW above adds/releases more power than the previous motor FW, sorry to disappoint ;). I'd have to disagree with the Facebook comments but if you can provide more context I can help to clarify. We DID very recently find that when riders had their bikes updated at retailers, a tiny handful of them seemed to have an issue where the 1.3 motor returned an "update successful" result to the retailer whereas in fact the update had failed. We're still working on the how, but the net result is that those motors defaulted to the Brose original FW - limited to a 15A max current instead of the 20A that Specialized use.

To tell if your bike is affected, it will have a) felt dramatically under-powered after you had the update and b) you can check in the Mission Control App - Diagnose - Battery - Current (scroll to bottom), whilst riding if the current doesn't rise above 15A with a 1.3 motor (uphill may be easiest to test) in Turbo (100/100) you are affected. If it gets close to 20A you are not. The solution is to revisit your dealer and ask them to re-run the latest FW update on your motor, then re-test.

Thanks, just did the test and only getting 14.6v max. Firmware was updated to 5.0.4 When I bought the bike so looking forward to the update.

Hi. I have a 2018 levo and from the smaller 460 battery i am getting enough run-time mostly on eco @ 25% for my 30 mile loop with 1-3bars left at the end of the ride. My fw is 5.0.0 for the motor and 4.16.3 for the battery. My question is if i upgrade to the latest fw, what difference might i see when riding and specifically will it affect battery life on the ride if i dont change the power settings? Thanks.
