Levo Gen 2 New error code - "Lights Drawing power from the Motor"

It all started when the TCU started turning on by itself.

I then went out for a ride and after 1 mile I got a Motor error. I immediately returned home to get my mobile phone to see what Mission Control had to say about it. It displayed the following message:
"The lights are drawing too much power from the motor. If you do not have lights installed on the bike, the motor may have a short-circuit in the light connector.
Check the lights and its visible part of the cable for any obvious damage. Non-standard lights may cause this problem to occur".

I don't even have lights.

Any ideas to solve this issue without going to the bike shop and having the inevitable weeks of waiting to get it back ?

The TCU still keeps turning on by itself.

The bike still works, however the Motor Error code just keeps flashing. Even turning the Levo on and off does not get rid of it.

Would it harm anything by continuing to use it ? I had one last ride planned with someone.

I had this error. Make sure everything is dry under the motor cover. Replacing the power cable seemed to fix it....

Also had the error ..come one when I was back peddling the cranks and chainring with the stick method to lube the chain ... every seems to be working normal so I have just ignored it.

I expect the clue is in 'if you do not have lights there may be a short-circuit in the light connector'. Should probably read 'moisture in the connector'.

Okay I've taken the connector out and cleaned it with contact cleaner.
The error still persists.
I don't know if it's totally unrelated but the motor has started making some sort of grinding noise when in use. It is still performing as normal but the noise is there.
Sounds like it could be on its way out and it's a 2020 motor as well.
I had a bad pedal strike in the peak district on a rather recent ride and I'm wondering if I'm now beginning to suffer the ill effects of that.
There's always something with these bikes!

I uploaded the status via mission control, and called the LBS (Specilized concept store aka certini Birmingham) they said the process is to clean the light contacts, if it persists then change the TCU, the the motor. I have to wait two weeks to have the motor connectors cleaned under warranty. This feels like a fob off.

specialized is this another motor problem ? If so just change it, stop kicking the can down the road. This is the fiat time I’ve had this issue, and I’m on my 4th motor, two of which are the latest 21 version.
so what is causing this issue. Considering it’s 30degrees.

My motor has started to sound increasingly unhealthy since getting this error code. Not sure if they are linked.

This error code does not cut out the motor, still lets you continue to ride. Unlike previous motor error codes.

The geniuses at Berkshire Cycles sorted mine out this morning. New power cable, and motor, then a SW update. All sorted in less that 2 hours. What a team.

Berkshire cycles sound exceptional, most of the other bike shops are a matter of weeks rather than hours to sort out a repair like that

It was either wait weeks, or travel 127 miles and get it sorted then and there, was a no brainier for me. But I appreciate travelling from further north than the Midlands can be a ball ache ?

Hi,

Anyone else having the same error with no lights connected?

This was the first message that pop up when I first turned the bike on. Don't know how but it suddenly stopped displaying the error after a couple of rides. I did pressed a bit better the power connector but that was already when it stopped showing the error, so not sure if that was the root problem.

I can also feel the motor more noisy than the previous Gen. Reminds me the SL motor. Is this 'normal' within the new Levo or do you think there is maybe something wrong going and could be related with the error I had at the begging?

Same thing happened to me. Got the error for a while then it disappeared. Motor noisier afterwards, sounding unhealthy.
Error code appeared again a few weeks later and has since disappeared once again.
Motor has remained noiser, sounding unhealthy, and making a swishing sound as the cranks go round. Along with a grinding noise that is always there in the background.

Bike now in the bike shop getting repairs.
