So YT came out with a new Decoy Uncaged.
EP801 and 720wh battery and Fox DHX coil shock at a resonable price.

What are your thoughts?

Yes you need the YT bottle, which is fine but expensive. I had the previous Shred which is pretty similar. Still one of the most fun bikes I've ridden. Every fox component on it shat the bed, the brakes were absolutely useless (Code Rs) but amazingly, the motor is still going strong! Honestly a great bike and would have bought my ex's one when we split, but really wanted a new bike with warranty from a LBS.

The bottle cage is not an issue for me personally.
I always ride with my USWE hydration pack. Love it and been using it for years for biking, cross country skiing, running and motocross etc.

My biggest gripe with the Decoy is how short the reach is. I would have to go for size XL to get proper reach, but then the seat tube is massive. Wish I had an opportunity to test it.

I rode a medium. On paper it was very small. My Privateer was 30mm longer! In reality, the bike handled amazingly and really made me reconsider how much stock I put into a geo chart. You're absolutely right, the only way to really know is to ride one. For reference, I live in The Tweed Valley in Scotland. So it's pretty much all steep, natural, rough.

I´ve seen that same statement from many others. That it feels better than what the numbers on paper say.

When stand up pedaling I have a tendency to feel unbalanced and like I´m about to fall backwards having to hold on to the bar when the reach is too short for me.

Size L is 1mm shorter reach than my current 135/150mm trail bike so I could probably ride it fine, just wish it was a tad bit taller. L geo with XL reach ;)

Did YT ever sort the 'post your bike back to Germany' warranty process?

Looks to be the same Decoy frame as the previous 5 years, I thought they had a new one coming out last year, but apparently it seems like they are planning to have this frame forever. At least it has the 720 battery stock, but 489mm reach on a XXL in 2023? It sure starts to be very "old school".

New motor sounds like it has some nice improvements. Quieter and better sealed.
Also looks like the sizing has changed. Med with 445mm reach. Maybe that was the previous large is now a medium? Idk
For me yt usa and yt canada have been impressively good to deal with. Email responses are very quick. Very friendly and helpful and quick shipping despite my living off the beaten path. The bike has been great

I tested the original Decoy on launch. YT's size chart reckoned I'd need a large but I felt much happier on the medium.

You're right. I wonder if it's a mistake as all the number line up with a size larger.

I dont know. Im typically a size medium on my bikes. My 19 decoy is smaller than most mediums but it does help deal with the ebike weight and its still stable. I think i could go either way. The new reach number would still work for me i think. My medium commencal meta 29 enduro bike had a 465mm reach. It was ok in the open at higher speeds but maybe one dimensional handling. It wasnt very playful in the trees. It was all out pushing for speed full focus or you got your ass handed to you. Too long for me even riding it as a mullet. I am curious on the 445 reach decoy though. Still not sure though

After owning a size large Elite model Decoy for 3 years, pulled the trigger on a XL and was so glad I did! I'm about 6'1" (185cm) and felt a little cramped on the size large. Had the same concern about the massive (470mm) seat tube length. I found an aftermarket YT seatpost clamp that has a shorter overall height (many other brand seapost clamps are available as well) then the one that came stock, removed the rubber seal type thingy that came on bike and this gained me some additional room. I run a 170mm RockShox AXS Dropper and have about 1 cm sticking out of seat tube if I needed to drop it any lower. Only real way to know for sure is to ride one in person. Not sure what length Dropper you are running and there are a few models out there that have less stack height which may give you the room you need.

I thought the Uncaged would be top of the line but it´s even worse specced than the Core 3 except for the EP801 and the bigger battery.

With the Uncaged 10 having the same frame but new motor and the large battery, do you think that´s all we´ll se updated for 2024 with no new gen frame?

YT has been putting the Decoy on sale for a few months now. Hard to believe they have not changed frame Geometry since it 1st came out. I'm on my 2nd Decoy and am very happy with how the bike performs. Rumor is YT is releasing a more dh oriented bike with Bosch Motor and Rockshox components.

Seen those pictures, but I think that´s just a concept bike somebody whipped up with photoshop on a Tues.

It looks like they just relabeled the sizes down one size. The medium use to be like 430 reach and a 420 seat tube. Now it's what the large use to be at 449/445.

It's puts the medium inline with what most others are doing for reach, but the 445 seat tube is still very long for a medium. The decoy is a fun bike, but I'm looking for something else just because of how long the seat tube is. Gets in the way in steeper stuff.

According to YT that´s a technical error on the website. And I´ve noticed that this error only shows up when using my phone and not on a PC browser.

Might we be seeing a new Decoy MX coming soon?
Seeing as they completely removed the MX from the website. Only mullet bike now is the Uncaged and the core bikes are completely gone, not even "available soon, notify me".

In the US, they recently updated all MX models to "Available Soon" after being listed out of stock. They are on sale for 25% off.

Would like to see a new emtb model from YT even though I just bought my 2nd new Decoy. Frame Geometry could use some updates along with maybe a Bosch Motor and better component specs.

Just had a look at the US page. You guys get way better deals. Uncaged 10 is 10% off in EU but 20% off in the US. You also have some different component specs.

Looks like another price drop. What a deal on all the decoys. This is 2500cad cheaper than my 2019 base model with better suspension, parts and motor. 1000cad cheaper than my 2021 commencal meta am 29 essential regular amish enduro bike

Got my Decoy 4 days ago. Took advantage of the $1200 off. I'm an older dirt bike guy and this is my first e-mtn bike so I don't have any previous experience that way but I will say that the heavier weight gives it a much more planted feel and the quality suspension has me charging harder and trying some drops and things I never would have considered on my older analog. Now I just need to work up some jumping skills so I can try one of these bike parks in the future!
