New Decoy owner with a daft question

My Decoy CF Pro landed yesterday it looks amazing but I’ve only got to ride it up the road so far.

Regarding the battery, I was expecting it to come with some sort of O-ring seal, so it fits snug and prevents water ingress but mine doesn’t look like it will stop much water getting in, is this normal?

If you push the battery up, towards the frame from the centre there’s a small amount of movement. I suppose I’ll find out eventually.

I’m sure it won’t be the last daft question I ask.

Thanks!

Well I guess the seal would work both ways... And water typically gets in one way or another. It seems in this design it will get out latest from between the battery and motor. And good thing is that the electrical connection is at the top.

Yt also did allow for some spacing as to not get annoying sounds due to battery movement. At least that what I remember reading somewhere

I have 3M clear plastic installed around the entire perimeter of the battery compartment for waterproofing (and all over the bike in wear spots). An extra measure of precaution as I don't intend on removing the battery that regularly.

I had the battery out yesterday installing a sealed shift cable housing, there was a bit of moisture on the battery housing from the wash earlier that day. To me the gap around the battery cover as well as the motor vents are there to allow airflow in rather than a complete seal. The motor vents have coarse foam in them, I believe they are purposed as dirt and dust filters that also allow good air flow. I think the design is intentional and that you actually shouldn't try to seal it. The battery itself is sealed up tight, even has a built in battery level indicator button and led level scale, clearly the battery was designed to be weather proof on its own.

I try to dry my decoy immediately after washing and run an air-mover style fan underneath and along the battery cover to dry up any standing or accumulated water.
