I have an 18month old Trek Powerfly 4. It has 130mm travel suspension . 27.5 inch wheels and budget Tektro brakes. I'm 72 and by no means hard core. Flowy blue trails with the odd drop-offs are about my skill level and what I enjoy most. Every so often I will venture onto a red trail but I find them less enjoyable and challenging e.g. slow
Deep down I know it's mostly my lack of skill and not the bike but I am beginning to think I might gain some benefit from 4 piston brakes and more travel.
I'm considering buying an Orbea Wild FS with 4 piston brakes, 29" wheels and 160mm of travel. Would I notice any significant difference or should I just save my money? I have found somewhere not too far away that will let me try a demo next week but I would like some info beforehand to avoid wasting my time.
I've dismissed the Decathlon Stilus. It looks good value but I would like a little more travel. I've also dismissed the Specialised Levo and Kenevo. I love the look of them but both are quite expensive in comparison and I have heard too many stories of motors having to be replaced.
