I changed my hardseven 8 for a new Allmtn 5 this weekend and despite the obvious differences the battery cover is a big improvement. Its a hard rubber cover thats attached to the battery.

The locking mechanism seems much better. No more metal slider. :giggle:

I just hope the actual lock and key lasts more than 10 weeks.

is the hard rubber cover easily removed or a permanent fix ?

I ask as I already have a 625 battery for my current Cube so was expecting to end up with two batteries to use when I get my Allmtn 4 tomorrow. A fully charged spare to keep in the car when at trail centres for double the fun

cool ? you had me concerned then. Probably won’t even get round to using two batteries in one ride but nice to know I’ll be able to if I need too

Funny you say that. I usually gad about in tour mode and was seeing a little over 60 miles in the range fully charged, it was around 50(ish) with 500w battery. After doing a 30 miler yesterday it was still showing 39miles left! .

So useful to have a second battery tho, esp another 625w monster (y)

A little aside : this cover sits quite snug against the frame, the plastic one on my Hardseven wasnt quite as flush and there was 2 or 3mm gap at the top between the cover and frame. Much better imo.

wow that’s good, I’m only getting around 35 miles on a full battery but then I’m a big chubber riding on emtb mode up hills through thick mud so should see an improvement as the conditions get better!

Tbh, it was dry, warm(ish) and not so much heavy mud yesterday with a relatively flat route so it was probably near to perfect conditions. There aint many hills or exciting terrain where I am and cant wait to get further afield ?

I noticed this bike has the Bosch but the higher end have the Yamaha. This seems strange to me since the Bosch seems like a better motor to me, what am I missing?

No idea why.

Tha Yamaha is a really good motor obv more than good enough for Haibikes upper range models.

I opted for the Allmtn 5 over the 6 for several reasons, my skillset for one, I just wouldnt do the 6 justice :p better in someone elses hands. (Same with the 5 tbf lol). I also went with the 5 because of the motor. Id had a bosch before and wanted to stick with it. I like that I can stick a range extender on the frame. (y)

This is a complete guess but I think the Yamaha motor is lighter so suits the carbon frames, whereas the Bosch is on the slightly heavier aluminium frames

I think its simply that Haibike are focusing on Yamaha, the parent company has many brands that use Bosch, with high end bikes, e.g La Pierre, so I think its just a brand strategy within the wider group.
