This may be useful for anyone who has a merida e160 or unprotected shimano motor.

Since the merida doesn't come with motor bash protection, I made my own.

A couple of hours and some 2mm vacuum forming plastic

Will post a link in a bit, I'm going to make another one but make I go further up the frame. This will give the down tube more protection and also it helps the guard to clip to the frame so only have to use a small amount of velcro under the guard

I'm thinking you just lay the plastic on top and heat with heat gun to get it to take the shape of the motor? Am I close. I want to do this.

Excellent, I've been looking for a solution for my shimano motor. How do you form the material. Looked on youtube and they use vacuum forming
machines. Must be a diy method. Thanks.
You have to heat small sections of the plastic and form it manually over the motor and frame bit by bit. Takes a while but is a good solution. I'm going to do another one as the first one was a bit wonky

Just don't heat it whilst on the bike! You have to remove it, heat it until its floppy, and then quickly re apply to the frame to mould

And use thick leather gloves or you'll burn your hands

I need for a commencal meta power. looks almost identical. Can you take more pics of top, an back under the chainring and off the bike. Where are you selling and how much. Thanks.

I have a special bracket to fit Shimano motors. This will be the same on all bikes but I would need to measure the rest of the frame to see if my guard would fit. I’ve only fitted it to a Merida so far. I have a web site to sell them from but it’s not live yet. I am selling them through PayPal for £55 UK pounds including worldwide postage.

Are there two different ones, in one pic flat bottom and in another a curved bottom towards the back of the motor. The curved one looks like it would work on my commencal. I have two screw holes at the back.

I am going to ask Rockguardz if they can use the bash guard on my Vitus as a template for for a universal one
