Hi guys. I have a Merida e160 500. Been riding it for 3 weeks now, in rain, mud and shine. And I’ve noticed this problem: Water does get behind the battery cover!
everytime after ride, I’d wash my bike (not pressure wash) and dry it. And when I take off the battery cover, I can see bts of water on the battery.
Is it normal? Does it happen to everyone? Or is it something wrong with my particular one?

Mine does exactly the same thing, no matter if I aim the hose away from that general area. I just usually pull the battery after a wash and wipe everything down.

Oh thanks guys for sharing! Thanks for the tips. And It’s a relief to know that I’m not the only one! ?
Yeah these days after I wash my bike, I’d open the battery cover, wipe whatever water I can see and leave it open to dry over night.
I’ve been watching EMBN channel and I’m considering getting some water displacer.

I’m glad you asked as mine is the same ,
But I’d already noticed that water can easily get in through the vents on the frame at the front then run down inside, I believe it can also run out at the bottom from what I can see.
maybe someone can say for sure .

yes the water will just run out the bottom around the foam packing.

However I did notice there was rusty water in the bottom of my seat tube the other day when I had the dropper post out. I need to look in to how it got there.

oh no, well i think I know how it got in there. Under the seat right at the top of the dropper, there is a hole. I noticed it when i was washing my bike, as I usually get mud flung up under the seat.

Has anyone come up with a solution for the excessive cable rub where the cables exit the motor housing and pass both sides of the bottom of the seat stay?
Also when I wash the bike I always stand it up vertical on the rear wheel as water collects inside the chainstay frame it seems it seems to run out fine.

Thanks to reading this I've now put some tape between the cables and the frame as it was already quite worn on my bike! I adjusted the cable length as it was a little tight but it still rubs.

On the water ingres, I notice that any water that gets in will drain unless you hang your bike vertically like I do. Need to leave it down until its fully dry before hanging up

I have the water ingress problem. Unfortunately it lets crap in well before I get home to clean it. I think I'll try glueing some thin rubber inside the outer edge.
