I think having different shoes or different peddles might work with extreme disability’s. ( however a single prosthesis seems extreme).
The magnetic peddles feel pretty good on both sides. Having a similar action to disconnect keeps things simple for me. I was worried about the strength on the left peddle but once I increased to a more powerful magnet that worry went away. After a few rides, disconnecting was rarely a focus.
