Have a Rail 9.9.

Wanted to collect the definitive (if possible) verified answers to:

1. Can the limit ring on this shock be clipped and removed?

2. Will a large 9.9 have clearance issues at full rear travel in high? In low?

3. Do you see a benefit in big compressions (like big drop to flats, etc.)?

4. Are there any suspension performance downsides?

Love the Rail. Sold my Bullit for it (weak motor and weak battery efficiency)…but definitely taking more body stress on big features. Hoping a) I can extend the shock travel; and b) get lower body compression stress on big features.

I did this same mod a few years ago to lunch ride a Yeti SB130…no issues and the extended travel was an improvement on big bits.

Tons of threads on long stroking rear shock on Rails. Pretty much every thread that discusses rear shocks on Rails has info about guys running longer stroke shocks. Fitment all depends on shock choice due to reservoir size for down tube clearance and the seat stay bridges clearance from the seat tube at full compression. At 65mm...you may have clearance issues, more so with the seat stay bridge. I run a 230x65mm but I have an Alu frame Rail 7. BTW....only Yeti calls it a lunch ride mod......
