Levo SL Gen 1 Levo SL Fox 34 forks

I’ve always been partial to fox’s 36 forks over the 34s. But that’s on an analog bike. Does anyone have any issue with the 34s on the SL? Anyone upgrade to a 36 and can offer a comparison on the SL??

Ive got no complaints with fox 34s. im quite light mind you (64kilos) I ride pretty steep technical trails and flowing single track but not one for big jumps. I find the forks great.

Hi Waynetta, The first upgrade I did was change to 36's. After an initial test ride on the SL, I loved the bike but hated the vagueness of the 34's. You can actually seem them twist and vibrate on berms and rough terrain. Matched with a 35mm stem, the 36's have transformed the bike. Not to mention running it as a mullet too!

No issues with the 34s on my SL, I don't ride very rough terrain.

I found them quite hard and unresponsive, so swapped them for a Lyric Ultimate.
I’ve never got on with Fox shocks (front or rear), and the bike feels much better on the 160mm Lyric.

Fox 36 Factory 160mm, 2 tokens, 62psi, buttery smooth. Has taken a bit to get them running sweet in fairness, but now they are perfect . I am 70kg. I ride everything from mountain trails to jump lines. Rear is upgraded to a DPX2. My mates run 160 Lyric Ultimates on their Levo's and are enjoying them though

That Fox combo is what I had in mind for mine too. What’s the clearance like between the DPX2 and range extender (if you use one...)?

For you guys who have swapped the 34s for 36s, did you also swap the shock? Have any of you swapped forks and kept the stock shock?? If so, how does the stock shock perform?

Yes the fox 34 is a bit vague and lacks quality damping.

I find it ok for my needs but compared to some forks I've used these are basic.

I have the Factory 34's and think 150mm travel is at the upper limits of what the fork can handle. On big jumps, you blow through the travel fast and loose some stability. I've ridden the Levo with the 36 and it feels considerably more capable.

I’m about to order a Rockshox Lyric Ultimate for my 2021 turbo Levo SL. I have a choice of the 150 mm or 160 mm with the 51 mm offset. Manufacture only recommends 150 but I know some are you riding with the 160. Will that void the warranty. And is maybe the 150 enough Or will the bike have a different/better feel with the 160?

150 was never enough travel. All the new levo's are coming with 160 up front as spesh have in all fairness listened to their customers.

There’s an interview from Marcus at Specialized on here somewhere from about February when the SL was launched. They don’t recommend anything above 160mm.
I took that as 160mm was ok!

Thanks you all for such great comments and help. I’m not much of a downhill speed demon? so I ordered the Lyric Ultimate in the 160 with the recommended 51 offset.
