It's crazy how people who seem to me to be sponsored by Specialized can say bad things about the brand new DJI Avinox.. 🤷‍♂️ 🍻
1) anyone buying a dji bike is being a beta tester. Zero info on how reliable the drive unit is.
2) the dji bike is a trail bike. What’s the point in a trail e bike? My meat powered bike is a trail bike. My e bike is a Kenevo or in other words a bike that is so big, you don’t want to peddle it without assistance. If someone gave me a dji bike, I would sell it and get a bigger bike, something with 170-200mm travel. It doesn’t have to be a specialized, I bought the Kenevo because it was a big travel e bike for $9000 dollars but on sale for $5700 bucks.

My uncle works at specialized he said the 2025 levo will have:

Mullet: 32 front 29rear
Cable free: even the rear brake is wirelessly activated. No shifter required.
Movable battery: during climbs the battery is pushed up the top tube to stop front end lifts, once pointed downhill the batteries slide under the seatpost suing a snake like design.
Maglev seatpost: there is zero insertion depth for the seatpost, so the saddle is held in place using magnetic levitation, the height is set using voice commands.
MGU: More Gears for U, 23 speed internal gearbox with automatic shifting and 700% range.
Front triangle is carbon, seatstay alu, chainstay steel "because Amaury's supreme looks so rad"
Official weight in size S: 17kg*

*Weight without pedals, tubes, batteries and motor.

My dealer said they've already seen it and its amazing etc but he also said how poo my bike was and i should get a new levo... The rest of the conversation was why the DJI systems so bad. I can see spesh releasing a bike that will please G3 owners and fans of levos. I dont see them breaking the mold the way DJI/AMFLOW has.

I think they are all like that. My LBS would mock my old e8000 bike, then I bought a Giant Reign from him, within 6 months of the sale he started asking when I was going to upgrade to a Pivot with Bosch. Bro, I just gave you 6k this year! Other topics of discussion are how terrible all the brands he doesn't stock are.

Hmmmm, Levo g4 is coming BUT I heard from one of my sources some wavering on the dates... Either it's announced very soon, or I'm pretty certain leaks will start coming through if they dealy to April - so hopefully by Thanksgiving we all know! And WRT the teaser video discussion - if I was Spec' I would just do those teasing silhouette vids where it doesn't disclose sh*t (like just flash the bottom bracket or something - doesn't even disclose the motor) and just lights up the forums!

Maybe the delay is due to the diij. Specialized aims to be the innovator and sells the best bikes money can buy with a premium price tag. Now they might have reshuffled parts and pricing to be competitive or are testing a higher power setting of the motor to be competitive.

Check out the specs of AmFlow's PL Pro. It matches the Specialized Pro model level but is €2,500 cheaper in Germany. I can't see Specialized lowering their prices enough to compete with that.

IIRC correctly they delayed the release of the Levo SL 2 to rework it when it became apparent it was gonna be slightly out of date performance wise compared to the competition at the time. I would expect they have likely done that again this time. There no way Specialized will want a new gen Levo not to be at the front of the pack.

The question is where the priority lies. In terms of frame design, performance, durability, and versatility, it will certainly exceed expectations. However, whether they will install a motor with >100Nm and a battery with >800Wh is questionable (and in my opinion, unnecessary).
I think they just need to be able to pull a few of the best aspects from each of these different bikes/systems into their own and it’ll be a killer. You don’t need the ludicrous level power of the DJI, but if they get it to be in the 95-100Nm range and roughly 800W peak output range, combined with the quietness and smoothness of the new Bosch it’ll be just what everyone wants. Just matching energy density from the DJI batteries will be fine, anyone with a full power bike that light will be very competitive right now.

The one drawback everyone is making to the DJI system is lack of support network and concerns of needing that support network. Specialized can come in here and combine the best of each different motor without going crazy on stats and people would be thrilled, it’s not like people are wanting even more power than the DJI.

I honestly think a 100Nm motor with 800W peak in a turbo mode of sorts that can be as quiet/smooth as the Bosch would get people nearly as excited as they did about the DJI and sell a ton of bikes.

I imagine the delay had to be caused by the DJI release and they quickly went back to the drawing board with Brose to retune the motor to squeeze a little more out of the motor with some new software and/or get a slightly lighter/denser battery design. They must have gotten some leaked info early enough to know they weren’t going to look great against the DJI specs and are scrambling to beef up a few stats to save face.

I might be the exception here but i dont need a bike as powerful as a dji. Not interested in more power its already more than enough, but the low weight DJI offers is something i can get onboard with. If spesh somehow had same outgoing figures 90nm 700/800wh battery but a weight closer to the 19kg it would be more appealing to me than announcing insane power 110nm etc.

Honestly, I don't think the new Turbo Levo Full Power will be very different from the SL 2024, except obviously for the battery and the new Brose engine. I don't understand this pursuit of torque and power, power is nothing without control... The new Bosch gen. 5 is a good example of this. I fear that in the field of e-bikes we are reaching the level that has long been reached in smartphones, that is, a certain stabilization of performance without epochal improvements that will probably only be seen when battery technology makes a significant leap. So I don't expect any big surprises from the new Turbo Levo which remains an excellent e-bike even in version 3.

I totally agree about not needing more power, at this point it’s just a cool stat on paper. On my 750W M560 I find anything over Trail (Level 2 of 5 which caps it at 500W) is just a silly amount of power for any sort of single track riding except maybe a really steep climb, but even at that, anything over 500W sustained is getting to the point where it no longer even feels like it’s a pedal based bike. I do wonder how drivetrains will hold up over time as the Amflow gets more real-world use out there, especially the basic spec that doesn’t even have a T-Type transmission. (On that note I’m confused, on the Amflow site it calls it a GX “transmission” but the pic clearly is not a direct mount t-type)

The best things they can focus on now are feel/power delivery and minimizing weight and noise. The next big revolution may be ditching derailleurs and going to MGUs, but I don’t see that happening mainstream for at least another 3-5 years.

DJI might have jumped the gun with the spec listing, SRAM is releasing cable versions of their transmission drivetrains soon. I’m guessing they had the dealer info and their web design person slapped that in there without thinking about it…..or they got lazy and cut/pasted info and didn’t catch it.

It’s not a cable vs wireless thing though, it’s the mounting type, it pretty clearly seems to be on a regular hanger and not direct mount, which is the big change with the t-type “transmission” which is the word they’re using in the description. I thought that’s what gave it the strength for the abuse of shifting under loads on an emtb.

Although to your point about it being unreleased, maybe they actually just showed an existing Eagle GX because it’s not allowed to be shown yet, and what it’ll actually ship with is a cable driven T-Type like the description implies and you mentioned.

I think people are reading to much into them using the word transmission. They make no specific claim the the derailleur will be a transmission type. I think it's most likely a case that the person writing doesn't really know there should be a distinction between drivetrain and transmission. Transmission is also now a buzzword and sounds good on a product description.

Here's the spec taken straight from the site.
