Hi Everyone. This is my first thread.
Hope you guys can help me.
I am making the jump to an emtb from a GT Force Expert.
I have tested 3 brands and have chosen the Specialised Comp alloy.
Is it worth spending another $3,200.00 for the expert carbon an all the upgrades?
Unfortunately the shop does not rent it out, so i cannot test it.
I ride hard rocky, rooted single tracks with steep climbs and descents.

Thanks
rod

depends if you can get a nice discount on the expert to bring it closer to the comp price.

but then you can get an equal discount on the comp which lowers that price.

I'm now seriously looking at alloy version for the frame only. Given the amount of parts I'd want the change. Alloy is more of an option even considering the shite colours they come in. Now factoring in a strip and repaint, or rawing it if @73Steff would just hurry up with some pics ?

Dunno, the shop I enquired at ok'ed a slightly larger discount on the expert. Not a huge difference, but I still went for it lol
I'm no expert rider but just knew I didn't like the lyric fork on the comp at all. Ended up with shimano brakes too.

I was recently in your shoes. sort of. I was stuck between the 2020 LEvo Comp and the 2019 Levo Expert. Both were brand new and special ordered by my LBS. They arrived this past Friday. After checking out both specs on the bikes, I went with the Expert model. They both have the 700wh battery, but the Expert is naturally lighter because of the carbon frame. It also has slightly better suspension, brakes, wheelset and i liked that both front and rear tires were 2.6" wide. It also helped that the LBS gave me a smoking deal on the 2019 Expert. So there was virtually almost no price difference too.

Why did you change he brakes?
There was an issue with the front brake being extremely spongey and me being able to pump the lever a couple of times until it touched the grip.
The shop tried bleeding the brake, but the issue remained.
As it was unsafe and it would have taken longer for them to get matching replacement parts, I asked and they agreed to upgrade to XTR instead for the inconvenience.
TBH I had already thought about changing them anyway

With opportunities to ride anything likely to be limited in the immediate future I would personally hold off buying anything right now; in the UK we don't even have shops we could visit to do so at this point.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I don't think i can get my hands on a 2019 expert.

Hello Rod,
I have a 2020 Turbo Levo alloy version (first ebike) and I really love this bike.
It is nimble and very precise in his steering.
And the brakes , transmission and suspension are working very well on this bike, I was surprised because normally I do not ride a bike without Fox suspension, but the Rockshox Lyric is good, not as good as the Fox but for sure acceptably.
I have been riding full carbon normal atb's in the past because of the weight factor.
But this 2020 turbo levo is very light in the alloy version, so you do not have to spend the extra money for the carbon version is my opion.
But the choice ia ofcourse yours.

Thanks for reinforcing my decision. I pick up the comp today.
