I used to do a fair bit of flying around there, the Blorenge, & all those good spots. I have a strong memory of a cafe somewhere that way that was a shrine to Cliff Richard. Cliff plates, Cliff coasters, Cliff pictures everywhere, Devil woman playing in the background, it was the strangest place.

No idea where that cafe was but we still ride the Blorenge regularly, especially in winter as it holds up well. Some nice enduro trails off it now too if you know where to look.

Trying out the new DJI Osmo. So far I’m very impressed with this camera compared to GoPro.

Went on a quest to find some dry trails today. Mission complete. Bone dry and running well. Fun day out 👌🏽

the footage looks horrible on YouTube.

Next time don't upload as 1080p

YouTube uses a different codec (AVC) for 1080 as opposed to the better codec (VP09) for 4k uploads

You can still record in 1080 if you prefer but set your video editing project to 4k and let the software upscale from 1080 to 4k, better still record the original in 4k

Hi. Yes. Well worth a visit. The trails are quite short but easy to session and keep doing over & over on repeat. They’re really well built and maintained, and currently dry as a bone and running great 👍🏽

That was my first attempt at using the DJI Mimo app last night so didn’t pay too much attention to what quality it uploaded at. All recorded in 4K so easy enough to also upload in 4K. The problem I have is that my phone memory is always almost full so if I save files at 4K quality I have to delete 100+ photos first before being able to do so 😀

The video looks fine on my phone, perhaps on a larger screen you start to notice the imperfections. I’ll have a 2nd attempt later, got to clean the bikes now!

Nice one, I'll give it a go ,I've heard about it, but thought it wasn't meant to be very good. Looks great on your vid though :)

Now then, I told @Cleggy that I’d make a 2nd attempt of my Watchwood vid, and here it is, now uploaded in 4K. I’ll take the other vid down now.

As a bonus vid, here’s another taken at a trail yesterday on Fremington Edge in the Yorkshire Dales. My partner is first, using the GoPro, then I’m following on the DJI. If you ignore the mud on the lens of the GoPro (and bad language from my other half!) then you can see a good comparison between the two cameras

Maybe your browser?

Shows 4k for me

No idea. I’m recording in 4K, uploading in 4K. Watch these vids either on my phone or ipad via YouTube app. Not much more I can do. My vids look absolutely fine to me, and I’m super impressed with the quality of the DJI, especially on Insta where most of the vids are uploaded too rather than YouTube 👊🏽

When you started the video project before importing the video, did you specify a 4k project? Maybe the project was set to 1080?

Either way keep at it, I find the whole capture and edit thing enjoyable.

Those trails you are riding look fun, pretty well built too.

Processing can take a fair bit of time depending on video length it can take 20 - 30mins for YouTube to reprocess your footage in to all the various resolutions for each viewing platform/device

These are the settings I use to upload the vid. Video codec is H.264, I don’t have the option for VP09

I use Shotcut for my editing/export. I have the option to select Youtube for the export and that selects libx264 for the codec.
If I was to ignore that selected codec I could, from the large number of other available codecs, select vp9_qsv. I don't know if that's the same as vp09. I just stick with the default that Shotcut gives me for Youtube - libx264. Seems to work OK.

Just been reading up on HD v 4K (UHD)

You can only watch 4K if you have a 4K enabled smart screen, or Chromecast Ultra. If you have these screens then HD will look fairly poor quality

If you have a screen capable of HD, then 1080p will appear fantastic quality. However, lower resolutions such as 720 or 360p (SD) will appear poor quality. Screens such as iPhones, Android phones, iPads, Chromecast, HD TV’s, PC’s etc are all HD
