Guy Kes is a North Yorkshire mtb legend and here he is reviewing the Kenevo SL at my local trails

@Bones these are the Sutton Bank / Kilburn off piste trails

(He’s only just put this video up but looks like it was filmed around March time judging by the mud and growth)

I need to watch that on the big screen. Guy lives just up the street from me and is quite pally with a couple of my riding mates.

A trip around a local loop. For some reason, I picked every super loose, gravel trail tonight, so there's noticeable reluctance to bang in big steering inputs here & there but it was fun anyway. Also forgot to upload it in 2k, soz.

Looks like one of the few remaining oem parts on my bike has bit the dust !! Hopefully not the motor but just the cassette or rear hub ?

Very short ride and a longer walk home

Didn’t film any trails at Glentress or Inners as I didn’t want to wear the strap on, but did film our XC ride across Gypsy Glen

If you’re staying at the pods then have to recommend this ride for the views and the nice fast descent down to Peebles. It’s only 14 miles and around an hour and a half but makes a refreshing change to all the usual shenanigans out on the trails

Glad you enjoyed it @Tubby G! Love gypsy glen for a change from the other stuff over there.
Looks like you noticed anyway but that left hand turn with a short climb after the gate at 8:30 gives you the best bit of singletrack and joins back upto the track you were on down to the river :)

yeah we missed that turn and I realised as we were bombing down that other track at 30mph so didn’t bother turning back and pedalling up the hill. It’s a great route though isn’t it, difficult to convince people that go to ride the gnar of the golfie or inners but well worth doing as a short evening ride if staying at the pods 👊🏼

Only just getting to watch this in full ( been a tad occupied last couple of days lol )

I see your doing a gate count i too encounter many a gate on some rides its the damn stile things that you have to lift over that grind my gears

The ride looks great, exactly what i love riding albeit yours looks longer , cracking views and some sweet long descents by the looks of things.

Good vid

Cheers dude. We enjoy riding XC just as much as riding the usual trails.

Trail riding is an adrenaline rush

XC riding satisfies the sense of adventure. Prior to our emtb addiction we used to do a lot of hiking across the Yorkshire Moors & Dales so XC riding has kind of replaced that, best of both worlds

That Gypsy Glen ride is simple, just a big climb, then up & down, then a fast descent. The terrain is super soft grassy paths too so good to get some decent speed without death grip bouncing over a load of ruts, rocks and holes. It’s also right opposite the Glentress Forest Lodges (pods) so an easy evening wind down ride after riding the trails all day. It’s not actually that long either, only 14 miles and around 2000ft elevation

And yes the gates drive me bonkers haha 😆

And here’s more gravel riding in the North Yorkshire Moors

(Huffing & puffing is due to riding in Eco mode as I’m trying to get fitter!)

We do ride normal trails too, promise Just prefer filming the scenery on xc rides rather than the usual trails & trees that we ride constantly on repeat

No apologies needed imo im impressed with your travels and enjoy the vids
im really getting the urge to trail legitimately as im always just up in thills etc just get paranoid i will look a tit with no experience and worse crash lol ( im a loner so always solo ).

keep it up mate, mixing it up is good.

p.s - You not gonna mention the fall

Start with trail centres. You’ll get round the blues & reds easily. The terrain you’ve been riding is far harder than the average trail centre. Once you’re competent on the black trails then you’ll be fine on the off piste. Riding solo has its risks but at trail centres they’ll always be someone about to pass and help untangle you from a tree ! Where’s your closest ?

I didn't imagine anyone would watch my vid that far in to notice my rutty fail haha 😆

pmsl " untangle ( me ) from a tree ) yep thats Slymobi law it will happen now its in my head.... thanks .

my closest kind of centre thing would be farmer johns !! but that might be a bit too advanced for my level atm ? Etherow is literally just off farmer johns and is probably a few trees over there ( very close ).

Cannings is about an hour away but with school runs and pick ups its nerves stopping me going just in case of the worst .

Haha, when i watch an upload i watch it all i know my edits often have sneaky good bits within ( sometimes ) so assume others do too
Glad it wasnt a big hit for ya.

We keep meaning to go to Farmer John’s too but are put off as we don't like going to new places at the weekend when it’s busy. It’d have to be a mid week’er for us when it’s quieter but running out of annual leave to take this year. Maybe next year …

Suppose if you’re on the edge of the Peaks then you may as well use the Peaks as your training ground. Great for ruts & rocks, but not so many smooth flowing berms & turns! Maybe find some quiet woods and dig your own 😉

just a thought, have you considered a days 1 to 1 coaching course, do it at Farmer Johns and they’ll get you down many of the features, opening the place up for you to ride on your own safely

not cheap, but money well spent

eg

Never considered any professional coaching as ive never ridden any real trails etc so not sure how bad i actually am lol.

I think i just need to find some time and get on a blue at least and see how many pieces the bike and myself end up in then i can evaluate.

Good advice though and noted for future if needed Cheers.

Got back up to the lakes this weekend, the first time since 2017 when I did it as part of a off-road coast to coast.

Plenty of ups and downs and reminded me that i'm out of practice with both crashing and riding proper natural trails.

Just watched your Whinlatter vid for now. Very good. Looks wet! Did you do the South loop descent too? I prefer that one, it’s very similar to the final North descent but faster and feels more grippy, with an easy climb back up to session it on repeat

First time I did the North descent I was following @Tonybro and he launched me off one of those jumps at around 20mph and I thought I was going to land on the moon 😬

Unfortunately the south loop was closed, hence 2 loops of the north.
The final decent, although very fast and fun, one of them rollers was super sketchy on the downside, proper brown pant moment.

Wednesday evening ride on the Rise. Sorry for low res. Poor connection here. Even this 1 minute vid took over an hour to upload at 720!

Sweet, dig the soundtrack ( i blame stranger things ), better than me at avoiding trees lol. i was so expecting you to send that last but nice video

Damn that’s a long trail. If I came up on that couple on the firebreak I’d yell in angry German ‘right before left pigs’ then smack his woman on the ass while headed back down.
That trail covers half of the mountain like most of the ones at that bike park. There are a few jumpy trails that are just as long but MUCH faster!
Haha... That paved road is actually another "trail" for less able mountain bikers who want the experience of being out in the woods without all the fuss of learning how to ride anything to strenuous. Notice how my first response was to say "sorry!"even tho we both had TRAILS MERGING signs and they were not paying attention at all.
