On the official bosch site you can calculate the expected range of your emtb:
I dit some simulations and came to the conclusion that the bosch smart system has less range than the other bosch systems (with the same battery)
Is this correct? Why does the smart system less range?

For example:

It doesn't, that's just a badly designed graphic that doesn't have any real world carry over.
Everything being equal you'll get more range because of a larger battery capacity.

Your comparing different motors with different power outputs.

More effort is being shown as required with the active line motors compared to the performance line motor, so the extra range is being made up by rider effort, rather than motor/battery.

If your looking at mountain bikes, you'd be using a performance line CX motor hopefully.

This Bosch Smart System is nothing than SMART I have a lot of problems with this "smart system" like i go for a ride and from point A to B and return to point A ... If I close the system and remove the Kiox500 to go to the bathroom after I turn it again when I get to point A I have ONLY one ride save... see the image saved by Flow app, on this ride I went to A to B return to A and what I get ONLY ONE WAY from point B to A soon I close the bike on Kiox 500 it do this if I dont close it save everything... This is Happen since the first day I got the bicycle it is a R&M Nevo4 750W Smart System

I tend to agree with you on this. Since coming to this forum site, a common theme of complaints and issues seem to surround the Smart System. For disclosure, I have a Gen II Trek Rail 7 with the simple Purion display. Technology is usually a very good thing, but sometimes smart tech outsmarts itself. Perhaps the Smart System needed a little more time and polishing before coming to market, perhaps.

The Smart System feature of allowing the user to adjust and manipulate some of the software for their preference is a great idea. However, after many months and miles on my Rail/Purion, I've found the software to be a kind of set-and-forget thing. I did add a VOLspeed tuner to improve response and some top speed capability, but apparently you can't even do that on the Smart System.

I do realize that a lot of folks with the Smart System are not having any real issues, but the frequency of complaints seen on this site indicate a problem to me. I don't consider myself stupid, but I like to Keep-It-Simple-Stupid as much as is possible. :ROFLMAO:

I binned off the flow app and derestricted the bike. Much better. You shouldn’t need to make sure you have you phone fully charged just to ride your bike!
You don't unless you've activated the smart lock feature. Which can be turned off.

If you go to settings you can change it so it'll keep adding to the ride until the end of the day. So if you sit for two hours then carry on it'll just continue the route rather than starting a new one.

Almost all the issues I've seen with the smart system tend to be minor and most of those it's not the system but people not sure how to fully use it.
The cube e-bike group I'm in has over 7,000 members and it's rare to get any posts with smart system issues.... Unless you're running a chip.

Yeah I know but the smart lock and alarm is about all it’s got going for it. I got the connect module but preferred the tracker I had before. Flow app nav is garbage. The system isn’t future proof as they were selling it as in the beginning. I can’t fit abs, can’t fit the powermore extender, the system controller is not retro fit either.

Not having the smart features makes absolutely no difference to my riding experience.

System controller -The one that's in the top tube on newer models? I think it has to be paired to the motor so needs lbs to set that up.

The mini controller that's Bluetooth is compatible.

Agree about the navigation, always hated it. The flow app is great for setting up all your power levels and customising them to how you want them. Also if you like stats... There's hundreds displayed on that kiox screen😂

I got my smart system bike for two reasons. One was the biggest battery on the market at the time and the second was that the smart system was billed as future proof. Infinitely updated and added to, to keep my new ride ‘new’ for years to come. Well that’s not happened.

In fact I think the tech actually took away from the riding experience.

I get similar distance to my non smart mate on his trek rail.

One thing of note is that blue, auto, will burn more power than Tour mode. You have to detune auto if you want to get similar to tour mode.
