LBS has 2021 Cube 140 Actionteam! Worth €800 more?

Which is a better buy considering resale value and price?

Hey guys, new to the forum.

I'm just getting back in mtb after a 20 year hiatus and looking for a good all-around trail bike. I've been eyeing the Cube 140 Actionteam for a few weeks and visited my LBS today to discover they have a 2021 in stock in my size. It has a Nyon display but apart from that and the new paint job I don't see any other differences on the spec sheets. They're asking €5200 for 2020 and €6000 for 2021. I like the Nyon but its not worth €800, maybe an extra €2-300. The only other 'excuse' I can come up with to get the 2021 is resale value being a new model. Is there anything else I'm missing? btw, for those who haven't seen it I actually think the 2020 model looks a bit better in the flesh.

I just bought the Cube 140 AT 2020 model. I got about an $1800 CD discount. I don't see that much difference so I went with 2020.
Here is a link to compare the specifications:

If you look closer at the component spec, I believe the 2021 to be a slight downgrade from the 2020.
Comparing the handlebars and stem, they go from 35mm Raceface on the 2020, to Newmen/Cube 31.8 on the 2021.
Wheels go from 35mm to 30mm with tyres from 2.6 to 2.4
Cassette from SLX to Deore, chain from SLX to Deore
And my personal opinion is the 2020 has a better paint scheme, all of which in my case is why I went for the 2020 HPC 160 over the 20201 version. Additionally the RRP goes up too (the 2021 HPC 160 does get a Fox 38 fork instead of the Fox 36 though)

Thanks, I didn't notice those details! I too agree with 2020 paint scheme being better. Do you know how easy it is to get the motor in the 2020 model firmware upgraded with additional 10 Nm?

Ask the guys at the LBS, if its hasn't already been applied ask them to do it as part of the pre delivery/collection checks.

I actually travelled 75 miles to get mine, as where I got it from was the only place I could find a 16" (small) 2020 160 Action Team, but due to the covid thing they had to suspend deliveries so store pick up was their only option.
It was that or order one from Germany and wait 5-6 weeks to get the same bike, and then the extra hassle should anything go wrong.

As it happened it was a good choice, as the shop (Ecycle UK Stroud (no affiliation)) talked me through everything about the bike from suspension to electrics etc. I was there about an hour!
(been riding 'clockwork' MTB's for years tho)

Extremely easy. It took my local bike shop a few minuttes and its free.

Many people are aksing about the Nyon. The display is a cool gadget, but it is just that, a gadget. I went from purion to kiox and I like the extra details and conectivity, but it is perhaps 0,01% of the riding experience overall. Also, I would be worried about the Nyon in a crash, the kiox is hidden away. So, great to have the newest display, but I wouldn't lose any sleep over it...

You can spend that extra cash for Garmin 830

Personally I think the 2021 AT colours are much nicer than the 2020, though I would say that wouldn't I, I just bought one today
