Lbs are they trying it on?

So dropped bike into have the kiox upgrade and a general check over. So guy phones me and says there is a tiny nick in the rear brake hose.
That the main pivot bearings need replacing, the rear wheel bearings have play and the chain is worn to .75.
Now i replaced the chain, cassette, jockey wheels and rear hanger about 3-4 weeks ago and have done maybe 250-300 miles since, gear shifting is nice and smooth (its shimano 11sp xt)
I still have the sram chainring up front but would that cause the chain to wear prematurely?
I gave the rear wheel bearing and freehub a going over and regreased everything when i did the cassette and it all felt smooth with no play so i cant help thinking they are revenue generating.
Btw rear brake felt fine no spongyness and stopped well. He says he has to take motor out to do kiox upgrade so would do brake line at the same time.
Any thoughts guys?

It's a Whyte, the bearings are warrantied for life so if they were the supplying dealer get them to do them for free. If not, add them to the list of stuff that's covered below.

Then thank them for the heads up on the other issues and tell them you'll keep an eye on them.

If the brake line is leaking it does make sense to do it at the same time. If it's not leaking I'd wait until it is.

So would the sram 12sp chainring cause the shimano 11sp chain to wear out that quickly?
The old gear hanger was quite a bit out of whack so fitted a new one and checked alignment and all ok.
I junked the sram 12 sp and went shimano 11sp, so could the chain line be way off causing the wear?
I will check chain myself when i get the bike back but i find it hard to believe the chain is shot after such a short time.

Not much point asking me about that I'm afraid, I've got 1960 miles and counting on my original chain and cassette...

If the chain ring is badly worn it would accelerate chain wear. Was it very noisy when you first fitted the new chain?

No not at all, and it still was quiet when i used it on monday i just check my strava and the chain has less than 200 miles,

Yes.
a new 12 speed chain on a new 11 speed chainring? no.

what exactly do you mean by a "going over"?
Bearing replacement on an overly greased wheel can be a loathesome job. As can main pivot bearing replacement on most FS bikes. an Ebike generally makes trhe job a little more so. Both jobs if not done when required can shorten the life of the hub and frame.
Ebike hose/cable routing can also generally be a huge PITA.

What exactly did you think a general check over is for if not to flag up faults with your bike?
it seems they found a fair few. It's up to you if you want to continue to run the bike with worn bearings, drivetrain and a nick in your brake hose and it sounds like that's what the bike shop called to discuss with you.
I can't see any decent bike shop would want to do these jobs if it wasn't required. particularly if their workshop is as busy as most.

Yeah. Why are so many folk on here so convinced bike shops are out to rip them off?

You asked for a checkover!
You dont have to accept the LBS opinion on what needs doing though. I would get the brake cable changed whilst they have the motor out, then thank them for the heads up on the other stuff............check and remedy the rest if required yourself.

@Tonytank , it depends where and how you ride.

If you ride once a week on flat and safe surfaces, then you can take the risk and ride to failure.

However, if you ride often in more challenging terrain, you should probably replace the parts, as Murphy is waiting for the best or rather worst possible moment.

Thanks for your thoughts guys, yes they are doing the hose. As for wheel bearings (which i checked myself 3 weeks ago and found them to be running smoothly with no rumbling and no play) i will just keep an eye on them. As has already been said ill get main pivot bearings thru warranty, if the shop will charge for changing them then ill do them myself. The chain ring doesnt look worn at all it got around 800 miles on it and was a 12sp sram chainring
