Hi all, I've got a stereo hybrid 160 sl 2020. Just wondering what the largest chainring I can run without changing the chain? I'm finding I'm never using the larger/lower gears

Jeez, And I was thinking of putting a smaller one on.
Though for me it would be so I could grawl up long steep mountains in eco mode to get the maximum out of my battery.

I fitted a 38T (34T originally) chainring to my 140 with no problems in any gear. The chain on the 140 is the same length as the one fitted to the wife's Reaction which came with a 38T chainring.

I believe the Cube Reaction is a Hardtail and so the chain is one to two links shorter than that needed for a Fully according to the fitting instructions.

I have the same bike and thinking of doing the same as I want a 40-42 tooth front ring if it will fit. I never use the lowest gears even on the steepest climbs but Im regularly pedalling fast in top gear.
Im interested to hear whether a 42 will fit and still give clearance on everything.

I changed to a 38T on my action team 140. Bought a new chain but didn’t need to seems fine as is. I don’t think a 42 T would fit.

That's a Bosch Gen 4 motor isn't it? Where did you get it from and did you need a software tweak?
On the Whyte thread it's being suggested you need a parameter change if you get a larger chainring.

Hi it’s bosch gen 4 and xt 12 speed. with ethirteen chainring. I bought a 36t first it was probably 1 or 2 gears difference so then bought a 38t which is probably 3 or 4 gears difference.

This is the clearance between chainring and chain stay with a 38t chainring. I think a 42t would be too close for comfort.
