Kryptotal tyres and rims / wheels mounting or compatibility

Hello,

I'd like to know if anyone has experience about Kryptotal DH casing mounting on wheels, brand by brand.

On Mavic Edeemax S, it's a nightmare of a near-break-wheel or rim experience.
Too bad, since these tyres are my favorites. To ride in Provence / Terres noires around EVO bike park, they are absolutely perfect, for my taste.

I was wondering which wheels i could buy, to ensure mounting these tyres won't break the wheel nor break too many tools (true).

My actual options are (aluminium wheels in mind, i don't want carbon rims)
- Custom DTswiss with FR541 rims
- I9 grade 300 V2

Does anyone have experience about kryptotal tyres DH casing mounting on these wheels ?
Was it a nightmare, or not-so-dramatic ?

Can someone recommend or confirm any brand / model of wheel / rim facilitating Kryptotal DH casing tyre mounting ?

I will appreciate any input / suggestion.

Not those wheels but Kryptos are TIGHT.... leave them in the sun for an hour first and plenty of soapy water....

If it helps, the next time they go on a lot easier, but the first...can be challenging

No problems with NEWMEN Evolution SLA 30 and NEWMEN Evolution SL EG30, one set with ARGOTALs DH Supersoft and one set with KRYPTOTAL Front DH Supersoft and KRYPTOTAL Rear DH Soft. Multiple changes (from used to fresh tires) and dismount/mount (sealant refills).
As Weeksy said, soapy water (mousse de liquide vaisselle avec une éponge)is a must do for every tubeless tire mounting. Also used to mount MICHELIN DH22 on those rims, those are a bit tighter.
Good tire lever(s) is a must have too. I use these TUBELESS POWER XL TIRE LEVER

I have those tyres and DT Swiss EX1700 wheels.

I put dishwashing detergent on the edges of the tire and after that it went on the rim quite easily. It also mounted well on the rim as a tubeless installation.

do people have troble fitting Krypto & Zyno tyres?

we run 27.5" & 29" on our bikes and I dont have problems fitting them - sometimes completely by hand

Downhill casing, soft & supersoft compounds on DTSwiss, Nukeproof Horizon v2 & pro wheels

Haha, they are the worst. Installing one with cushcore can be a soul destroying process.
I've put them on 541's, didn't seem too bad. As others have said soapy water helps. I bought some icetoolz plastic coated metal tyre levers, you shouldn't need to swing off them. Just a more reliable solution.

+1 for the soul destroying aspect with cush’s in the mix. That was on a set Industry 9 350 rims.

Just installed Kryptotal Fr DH supersoft to DT swiss HX1700 wheel. Tire straight out from box, took about 5min. First DH casing tire for me, noticable thicker casing than enduro which I had previously on the same wheel so naturally little more effort. Pops up nicely with track pump and holds air without sealant. Takes some time before I can do the rear because I have to loan my rear wheel to a friend. Looking forward to see how these compare to soft enduros or DD Maxxis DHRII/Assegais

Took about an hour with some metal tyre levers to get a dh casing argotal to fit on a set of Hunt trail wide ii rims. The issue was getting the tyre on the rim, it was super tight, once it was on it inflated tubeless Immediatelywith no problem

How do you find em versus the Enduro casing (that I'm running now). Mainly, are they a lot slower, can you really feel the weight? I do really like the Enduro. More protection is nice though.

Haven`t ridden yet, I liked also very much the enduro casing but blow the rear tire so I tought try DH and same time softer compound because everyone`s talking that these are really good. I weighted the front before the installation, 1306g. I think it`s not bad for DH 29”.

Weight and drag are really not a thing on an Eeb though. I run the Super Soft DH on my trail bike on XC rides and it's perfectly fine. I was running the Endurance previously which now hangs on the wall.
The Endurance has about 1000 miles on and completely perfect edges, no wear at all. The SS has plenty of wear. If you want longer lasting then stick the Endurance on there.

I disagree - it's not a thing that can't be dealt with, but I can certainly feel it. Bike is less snappy, feels a bit more "dead" on the trail with a lot of the proper DH tires. Say goodbye to quite a bit of power. Would depend on where and how it's being ridden too though I think, our trails have a lot of tight stuff.

You put out a LOT more watts than me if you don't notice Super Soft DH on a non-e bike!!! And for XC?!!? I sure would.

All that said, strong chance I try the DH Kryptotal next. But I'll wear the soft Enduros out first. They do everything I need.

Well i found my last right on XC stuff with mates fairly hard, but i assumed that was because i'm a bit fat at the moment rather than the actual tyre i had on. The majority of my manual rides are on tech/tricky, so i've been running the SuperSoft for that as i've got multiple Krypto/Argo take-offs from the DH bike. Arguably i should swap/change them for something else that's a bit less draggy/soft, but then next week i'm out on Tech again so want the grip....
Mostly i just fit tyres, use them and accept their compromises..
(This is only on the front on the manual bike, it's got a Butcher in T9 on the back as i don't have any 27.5 Krpto)

I'm sure it's a totally different kettle of fish riding bike parks, DH tires would be a no brainer I'm sure.

FWIW, I've found "as low as you can" is good as long as rim strikes aren't happening, and finding that balance can be expensive. I learnt how to lace up rims for that reason I found even with Maxxis DD I needed cush core to stop rim strikes. DH tires however did not need the insert. The Kryptotal Enduro though appears to also not need an insert, so far at least, touch wood, but the sidewall does seem pretty tough in the hand. I think it's too flexy with DD.

I've been maxxis my whole eMTB career starting 2017 and I gave other brands a look in here and there, I think with the Kryptotal Enduro I've actually found something I like more than maxxis for the first time. I probably will try the DH next.

Just installed the rear DH krypto also, had to retape the wheel first because friend who borowed the wheel put a hole to the tape . Anyway, tire was as easy to install as front so in my experience, easy tires. Same have to say about DT swiss tubeless tape, childs play to install.
