Kmc quick link. And quick link in general

I’ve had a little read on here but can can’t the question I’m asking.

I’m running a Kmc x12 on my bike and looking for a quick link. Is there just thing as a universal link or are other brand’s compatible with Kmc.

Basically I’m a tight ass and shimano is cheaper then Kmc

I also did some research and from what I understand you can (more or less) use any quick link. However, it should be better to match your drivetrain. For example if you have a Sram chainring you don't want to use a Shimano quick link, because is too narrow.

I get you, I’ll get a 12 speed shimano and hope it later compatible. Tuning shimano drivetrain
