Hi all. Bought this from my LBS today after a lot of deliberation Vs levo turbo.
Really like it so far as it looks great (blingtastic metallic orange) , like the Bosch motor for me (louder than the regular levo/quieter in my opinion than the gear based levo SL and no obvious noises on mine going downhill). Really like the slacker geometry/enduro feel and for me going downhill here on Dartmoor (granite slabs and rubble etc.) It is more confidence inspiring than the levo I demoed (esp the SL). But first to admit that my skills could be better (so that may not be your choice ). Also love the tech. It's the sweetspot for me. Levo did not have enough info and the old Bosch solution /Shimano on the handle bars I hate. This is out of the way but gives you fitness essentials like wattage and heart rate so you can target them easily . Display is great. Finally it's removable so it's a security feature. On they note the RIB battery system is a winner as well. Very convenient. It has the new Zeb on it (which I know little about at present ) but happy to share photos now. I presume it's the answer to the Fox 38? Probably more than I need but not complaining . Hoping Rob reviews it (not seeing those Trek reviews) ...but at the end of the day it's working for me :D

Lovely bike. Mine should eventually arrive tomorrow after Parcel Post trailing it to almost every wrong depot in the country! I’ll be genuinely surprised if it still has its box!

I think it might be an XL. This as the triangle seems bigger than on mine which is an L.

The L, does fit the bottleholder, but you won't be able to fit a bottle due to bottle on the suspension...

Yes it's definitely a large and glad to say it's a 160mm Zeb select plus (believe it can be upgraded to ultimate if you want high compression control) . So happy with that . Think I will get use out of it on Dartmoor and it will definitely make me feel safer. Super stiff and really nice to ride so far

looks lovely. Fit a Chameleon skin or the equivalent ASAP and flip the chip to the "high" setting
Absolutely agree re skin. Think it's safe to order a 2020 Rail cover ....I am unaware of any frame changes....anyone else know if they are same ?

Well it's definitely a large so no idea. Did message Trek today asking if any frame changes but no response .

Is the 2021 Rail like the 2020 with the piggyback reservoir on rear shock off to the side allowing for a water bottle?

Hi, it's off midline to the right and it looks like I could fit a bottle in but haven't tried as yet

No it was a major attraction for me. Out of the way and imo a little safer
Think they looked at the levo and thought that makes sense . However because it's removable it's still a security feature . So think best of both worlds

Just confirmed with Trek that 2021 Rail 9 frame is unchanged largely from 2020 rail (want to buy a skin) so wondering if it's because the 9 is aluminium and yours is carbon ????? Just guessing but otherwise can't work out the reason as this is definitely the super deluxe ultimate rt3

Ok so looking at the shock a little more closely I see what’s going on lol. You got a trunion mounted shock and the an extender thing on the damper body. The shock I tried was an eye to eye type. Makes since now how it fit and that’s a good idea how to get a shock in there.

So the shock is interesting . It's appears to be a licensed version for trek. The serial number does not register on the trailhead app. I presume the adaptions above are the trek proprietary stuff?

Hi Gasdoc, I am looking at this exact same bike here in Australia. Due to stock issues etc you pretty much have to grab a bike and hope it works. I am 6”2 and have long arms and legs so was wondering what height you are? I’m leaning towards the XL which is fortunate as a rail 9 is the only one they have arriving in that size. How has the bike been going? And did you notice any difference between the carbon and alloy frame? Assuming you got to ride both. Cheers and sorry for the 1000 questions.

If it's any help, I'm around 6 foot one, 187cm, kinda right in between a large and an XL. I went with the large and I'm happy with it, I tried an XL and felt a bit stretched out. You though, with long arms and legs, should be perfectly at home on an XL. I have a 2020 Rail 7 but I think the frames are unchanged for 2021

Cheers Philly G, I think the XL will be the one. I have a short torso hence the bloody long arms and legs. I can always tinker with my setup to move things around and make it work. Thanks for the advice.
