I cleaned my jam2 after a muddy ride last week and now it wont charge or switch on,when i plug in the charger it clicks and the light on the bike switch glows bright and then dim.The charger charges the tec battery fine so ive ruled a charger fault out. Any ideas guys??

@steve_sordy You had one of the Shimano Jam2's ...
Not only the inimitable Steve but I also had one and from month one it was a right PITA.
After countless dismantlings to clean connections to get it working again and even a new motor it finally and totally gave up the game and would not turn on or charge.

I opened up the battery and as there was no sign of corrosion on the cells and the reset button did nothing I accepted that something on the circuit board was shot.

Sure enough, £530 on a new 378wn battery cured it. EXCEPT THE TEC PACK EXTENDER WON'T NOW CONNECT leaving the bike pretty much useless for me for anything other than a trip to the local shops.

Right ok update. Just dropped the motor out, withdrawn the battery and split the casing. The battery looked good showing no corrosion, pressed the reset button and bingo, back in business. Just finishing off and recharging. I’ll let you know how the road test goes👍🏻

Yes I did, beautiful bike and I was sorry to see it go.
But I never had that sort of problem, not exactly.

The closest I could get to it that might explain the problem for the OP depends upon where and when he was charging his TEC pack.

It was Feb'19, 6-7 weeks after getting my new bike. The charger would not charge the frame battery if the battery was at a low state of charge AND the charger temperature was below 10deC. That took a while to establish. When the OP tested the charger on the TEC pack, the TEC pack may have been at a higher state of charge and/or above 10 degC. I kept the bike and charger in the garage and the TEC pack in the house.

Focus fixed my problem by changing the battery ("because our engineers say that 95% of all these sorts of problems are fixed by changing the battery"). This was despite me quoting electrical experts from across the world, my own experience and the testing done by the dealer. But by the time Focus got their act together and shipped a battery, Spring had come and the temperature was no longer a problem. Fortunately, the dealer had done their own tests and agreed with my diagnosis and had already given me a new charger from a different batch. So I was up and running before I had to take the bike in for a new battery (I thought I might as well!) :)

So as far as Focus are concerned, they were correct! :ROFLMAO:
