Is there a way for thread owners to lock threads?

I've posted a thread with a question, I then found the answer and I want to answer my own thread and close it so people don't keep replying.

I could delete the thread, but then that reference point is gone too.

Just post about your answer, then hope people read the whole thread before they answer..

If they don't, it doesn't really matter. Who knows, an alternative which no one has ever considered before might be posted.?
