Is it wise to buy a Rise from a dealer who is cutting ties with Orbea?

I’ve managed to find an Orbea Rise H15 with upgraded brakes at a UK dealer at a discounted price. I’m a little nervous though, after seeing that all the Orbea bikes they stocked were on sale. I asked them why the bikes were on sale and they said they were cutting ties with them. I asked why and they were less than complimentary about Orbea and mentioned reliability.

They said, If I buy the bike and have any issues, they will still have contact with Orbea so warranty wouldn’t be an issue. My worry is whether they will be last in the queue for already limited supply of parts, especially Shimano motors, should anything go wrong.

If you were in my position, what would you do?

I think this is a valid concern. I bought mine from 2000 miles away in order to get one when they were in short supply. Only a dealer that is Shimano certified for their motors can troubleshoot and get warranty spares. A normal bike is pretty easy to repair yourself but the motor adds a level of complexity.

I would see if there is another Orbea dealer nearby and use them for organising warranty, failing that, use a Shimano service centre dealer.

I bought mine from Germany during lock down and fortunately have had no issues. My LBS is a Shimano service centre and work on the bike with no issues, in fact they love seeing it! They also have a Service tech that came from an Orbea dealer so he's familiar too.

Do you mind me asking who the dealer is please.

How many miles have you done and do you ride in wet and muddy conditions?

Yes, I'm concerned about spares after warranty too. There's a thread about a Santa Cruz Heckler owner on here and he's having issues getting a new Shimano EP8 motor, even though he's willing to pay for it!!!

I'm in Chorley (near Preston) and my LBS is Buy-A-Bike - Shimano Service Centre but NOT an Orbea dealer. Monster MTB are an Orbea dealer, less than an hour from me. I originally had my bike on order from them but it kept getting delayed so I just bought from Bikester in Germany in the end. Got my Extender through Monster though.

Done 1000 miles through the moorland slop in all conditions from snow to baked hard-pack after the heat last summer. It's taken it all in its stride. I did start getting a creak from it after about 750 miles and we think it is coming from where the seat post enters the frame - but nothing is cracked or damaged. I did change all the bearings about that time just as a precaution as it had taken some punishment! Riden Rivington, Gisburn, Darwen, Whinlatter, Dalby, Borders, Pennines, Kirroughtree on it so it takes some hammering!

My Wife had a test ride on the Orbea on Saturday and she bought it. Was a great price considering it had 4 piston XT brake upgrades. Had a little spin on it myself without the motor and was surprised just how it rode like a normal bike.

I bought mine online, not worried about warranty issues as most likely be motor etc issues which is nothing to do with Orbea but a Shimano issue, so any Shimano service centres is where I would take the bike but had no issues in 18months ownership

I decided to order the rise M team model 2023, only problem there is at this moment no delivery indication … maybe because of the new XT DI2 . Also the meaning to apply the Eplus tuning to 35km/h , what also will have an influence on the range, that’s why I will go for the 500+ battery, maybe even with the range extender to have possibly for (rarely)100km rides… most of the rides will be from 50-75km and around 750hm.This moment still on non emtb👍

I bought mine online, and now take it to my LBS. I had a couple of 'did you buy it from us' but after of a couple of services, new cassette, chain, jockey wheels and front chainring I'm their best friend....:D. And a replacement motor after 2,500km from Shimano to boot (under warranty - phew).
Seriously if you are going to the LBS for general maintenance like me, then I would see where your local Orbea dealer is or will be before buying as e-bikes require more maintenance, both in terms of warranty and general wear and tear (imo).
I think they'll want your business in the current economic climate regardless if you bought it from them. Anyhow a warranty is a warranty in my book and any Orbea dealer should be willing and able to accommodate you.

The dealer I purchased my M10 from is no longer an Orbea dealer but I live too far away anyway... I looked up on Orbea' website who my local dealer was and went to them when the crank arm shaft on the motor broke off. As my bike was registered with orbea and they were a dealer it was smooth communicating with Spain directly from Florida. The replaced my motor and gave me a new 1 year warranty on the motor within 3-4 weeks if I recall. The dealer just charged me labor for removing and installing the motor. TAKE THE DEAL as everyone who buys some other light weight e-mtb wishes they bought a Rise! that has been my experience, everytime I meet someone on the trail who paid too much for too little with another brand (Specialized SL)
