Hi all. Excuse my ignorance but i have been given a pair of Ion Select shoes shown on the attached photos, as my bike had clip on pedals...however i dont want to use the pedals and was wandering if these shoes are ok to use on flat pedals which i have put on instead...will the recess on the sole effect my riding? They seem like a good quality shoe and would be a shame not to use them simply because i am not clipping into a pedal.. Thankyou

I’d remove the cleat and then they’ll work reasonably well. The soles are likely to be quite hard and thick though so grip and feel isn’t going to be as good as a purpose built flat mtb shoe.

I use these shoes on flats - get some Shimano MT33/43/43 cleat covers, which will need trimming very slightly with a stanley blade. They grip like buggery on my Stamp 2's and I have no complaints. Great shoes.
