Went to the shimano website, to read up about the EP8.1 but then reviewed the EP8 to compare and long and behold....

Found this little gem, in the function description, which will be available with updated 5.1.2 coming in fall 2022...... Only available in Profile 2.

The snippets I took were from the ep8 spec, so it would seam the old one is compatible. Will have to see.

Welcome news but doesn't add much to the existing facilities baked in to motors, both EP8 (on my Rise) and E8000 (on my Merida). A bit more granular maybe...
