Hey everyone new to mountain biking and just got my first emtb, got a trek rail 5 and love it :) need to show my naivety here as im trying to get a couple of inner tubes to a carry just in case i get a puncture up the hills. the tyre size on my bike is 29 x 2.6 but for the life of me i cant find an inner tube that size, so my question to you all is, is there an inner tube of that size or what size of inner tube do I need to get? and does it matter what valve i go with, Schrader? or Presta?

thanks in advance

You'll need Presta ..

If you ever need a way to remember which is which think presta is a shorter word and the small valve. Schrader - the longer word and the larger valve.

So purely as an example :

and select 29 2.5/3.0 - the 2.5/3.0 being the tyre width minimum and maximum.

Those tubes also have some sealant in, so in theory will automatically seal if you get a puncture .. within reason.

Love your questions ... I think ZF and @James_C have answered fully already?
My personal suggestion is to sell the bike right now o_O . bThis is addictive --- and less cheap than it might be ( if the OH asks !)

another option is to go tubeless, you then have the 2 tubes you have as spares, although unlikely to need them. I don't bother carrying any (but I dont tend to go very far from civilisation)
No sure about going tubeless just yet, maybe in the future :)
