Kenevo Gen1 Initial impressions of my Boxxer upgrade.

Installed a Boxxer fork I purchased from an emtbforums member. It was a hassle shipping it from the UK to Alabama, USA. But we got it done(Thanks , UPS). It came from a 2020 Kenevo size S4. It went on my 2019 Kenevo size large with no issues.

My first ride was in a light rain. I had to test out the new Boxxer fork, of course. I went on two of my favorite trails that I knew very well. My initial impression was that I rode harder and faster. The suspension was more supple than my old Yari but also seems to handle the mild jumps very well during mid-travel. Cornering seemed more aggressive. I wonder if it is due to the double crown giving the forks more rigidity. Overall all I was more confident during the run. The new Boxxer fork along with my heavier spring in the rear has transformed my suspension from the original components.

I’ll give it more of a test this weekend. But so far I am quite happy with the results.

Earlier I posted that the boxxer first ride on my kenevo inspired confidence and I rode harder and faster on my favorite trails. What I didn’t realize was that I used the full 200mm travel on that ride. I had the fork air pressure at 120psi vice the required 158psi. I also set rebound to -5 clicks from full clockwise rotation.

Second ride impressions:

My fork travel is now approx 60% of full travel and the fork still had a supple ride and the stiffness of the fork is still noticeable on corners. I did get some hand fatigue which I hadn’t had since I installed my Spanks Vibrocore bars. I’ll have to pay attention in the future if hand fatigue starts to be an issue with these boxxer forks. It wasn’t an issue on my previous Yari fork coupled with the vibrocore bars.

overall... very happy with the boxxer on my Kenevo.

Update :

After 10 hours of aggressive riding I’m loving my double crown forks. Much better than the Yari I took off of her. I can’t get over how much more sure footed the boxxer is on all sorts of terrain. I’m able to pick lines that I wouldn’t have before. No need for the charger 2.1 upgrade. I’m happy with the original charger dampener in it. I’m not a tinkerer and I’m happy with the factory set HSC.

I was happy with my kenevo comp before but totally feel it’s dialed in now with my weight (100 kg) and style of riding. The three upgrades I made were exactly what I needed. 650 psi coil spring for my rear shock and the 200mm boxxer forks round out the bike. I did upgrade the handlebars to vibrocores because I wanted more rise. Stock was 30mm rise and I upgraded to 50mm. As far as the vibrocore... I’m not certain they actually work as advertised. It’s supposed to dampen vibration. Not sure..

The Guide RE brake with stock 200mm rotors and stock pads seem to work just fine for me.

I feel my kenevo is now perfect for me. No further upgrades required.

Put a charger 2.1 in there, makes the Select feel loads better.

Having just bought a boxxer select with the charger 2.1 fitted I concur. The difference is night & day.

It's a £80/$100 upgrade that will transform those forks!

I'd get yourself some different flat pedals as well with pins, you'll find yourself more locked into the bike..A pair of Nukeproof's are around £30/$45..!

I want to go to 220 rotor but I keep thinking, “What problem am I trying to solve?”

My current brake performance is good.
