I gotta say being a subscriber here is the best deal ever!

After I first joined I used to say to myself "this site is freaking CRAZY with all these ads. Way too many. Very annoying and I was going to leave and find another ETMB forum. And I even run Adblock and most of the ads here still come through anyway.

But yesterday, I joined and ALL the ads magically disappeared 🫣 as the link said they would.

I say best deal because (and not to give Rob any ideas) the knife forum I belong to charges me $30 annually and most other I belong to are like $20 monthly.

So ad free is a damn bargain. And since the pound is stronger than the dollar . . it even costs me more in the U.S. $5.93 with the exchange rate . . . still a bargain. If I want to go ad free on Youtube it's $180 annually (F' Youtube) I mute all their ads and look off the screen until I can click skip ad.

And ad free even got rid of the annoying big blank space at the top of each thread I view (at least with my Imac). I think that space is probably an ad that my Adblock blocks and leaves a big space at the top. Before I would sit there waiting for the thread to load and not realizing it already loaded but I had to scroll down to see the page!

So if you are like me and all these ads SUCK here . . . spend the $5 and get rid of them

That did exist for about a year .. it was a very lonely place. It was quite disappointing really, there weren't even any arguments.

I'd guess it was removed because no one used it and it took up screen space.

It was a bit crap too because if anything interesting/useful was discussed, there was no record of it.

On the bright side, it did have a few bugs at the start so if you knew what you were doing, you could hack other users displayed names

Sadly, I think he left the building. I know he was always direct, but he was knowledgeable, informative & helpful. Lets face it, you're not going to fall in love with everyone you talk to, but I think people often forget to at least make the effort to understand when it's easier and quicker to just judge.

He was still one of us, ultimately with the same interests at heart.
