With an aluminium bike, I just take the view that as soon as its out of warranty its going down the powdercoaters to go matte black.

Exactly! the first mud bath is always the worst....... a lot of fun none the less! And I’m sure it will just get easier! On to Cannock chase next weekend now! Can go exploring for the famous off piste runs now I have a motor
This thread got me thinking about my real reason why I spend time and money on protecting the bike frame from chips and scratches. I concluded that in the end it was about getting a better price or a faster sale when the time comes.
